What the Palestinians urgently need is a state of their own based on their national identity. They do not want to destroy Israel, let alone "pull down the American empire," as Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad promises. They do not want to die so that others can play heroics on TV and in their name.
Israeli Premier Ehud Olmert is wrong in putting Ariel Sharon's policy of unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank on hold. For the two-state formula to work, it is imperative for Israel to decide exactly where it wants its frontiers to be drawn. Once it is clear where Israel wants to be, it would be possible to discuss where Palestine could be as a state.

IMHO: I think the two-state formula is now dead. The, so called, Palestinians have rejected there own chance at a state, continually use their own children for suicide bombers against other children, employ kidnapping and use imported weapons to destroy what chance they had of peace.
IMHO, These folks have had their chance and have demonstrated their total corruption. Fooling with them any more is a waste of time. Any more money to these people is a waste of time. Isreal needs to expel the corruption and buffer themselves against their enemies.
What do you think of this two-state idea now?
He begins the article with a blatant lie.
They have no unique "national identity" being no different than other Arabs from surrounding countries. They already have such a state, it's called Jordan, formerly Trans-Jordan, formerly the Arab/Muslim portion of the British Mandate of Palestine.
Israel is always wrong when it doesn't capitualte, according to some people.
Baloney. They're all Islamic terrorists who want to destroy Israel and kill all Jews (and Christians).
Give the Palestinians Sinai.
Build them a city, teach them how to fish and farm and turn them loose.
Use Euro money to fund it.
Israel takes back the West Bank and Gaza. Better yet, move the UN to Gaza, then level the place.
You could have fooled me.
The Jordanians are Hashemites who want nothing to do with Palestinians. Also, it is inaccurate to say that Palestinians want a homeland. Having a home implies working to maintain it, which is not really their strong suit.
What the Palestinians really need is a nice long time out until they decide to play nicely with others.

( No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo!)
Not really an option given that Egypt has been reasonably cooperative in the peace process for return of the Sinai.
A Pallie enclave carved out of the Sunni triangle and west desert of Iraq would be a more viable option if a high enough fence is put around it.
Any Pallie who was a Christian or would otherwise pledge loyalty to Israel would be allowed to remain.
Let them have France.
"Let them have France."
Too Late
Is to realize their "identity " is based on their own bad judgment and self-deceptions and assimilate quietly into Jordan.
Wrong. Roughly 2/3 of the population of Jordan is "Palestinian" (whatever that term means, it having been invented very recently). The Jordanian royal family is Hashemite, as are a portion of the population, and I'd agree that they don't want anything to do with the Palestinians since about 1970, when the PLO attempted to take over Jordan.
The Palis don't want a state anyway. They want to drink the blood of the Jews.
The reason Jordan is now 70% Palestinian is because of post-'67 influx and a leisurely lifestyle focused on procreating while on the dole. The 30%, who are the real Jordanians, are less than thrilled about this but it's a bit late for them to complain.
