Lynn Cheney: Condi Rice for President?

The idea of a woman president is not so abstract now that the 2008 election nears, Lynne Cheney, wife of vice president Dick Cheney said Wednesday.

"If you're thinking of Condi Rice, I think she has good credentials," Cheney said.

During an appearance sponsored by the Aspen Institute, Cheney talked mostly about education and history but did venture into current politics, including the possibility of women running for president. She did not mention New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, widely thought to be considering a presidential run in 2008.

"(National security) is the driving issue," Cheney said. "The stereotype exists that women are softer. Maybe it's not true. I don't think it's true. But it's a little bit of a challenge to overcome for a woman president."

After the mess she created with Lebanon and Israel, we dont need any more of that.

Give her a break. It's the Middle East. In 2000 years nothing tried has worked

I don't even know anything about her that would particularly qualify her compared to the rest of the field.

Surely you jest.

Name me one true Conservative who has the chance of that proverbial snowball in hell to defeat the likes of Hillary Clinton.

The only person who can defeat Hilderbeast and keep the GOP in control of the White House is Condi. And, I was saying that a year before Dick Morris said it.

George Allen's recent, stupid gaffe on video proves he is not ready for prime time in '08. Newt is not likable, on a personal level, by many people even Republicans, yours truly included.

I like Tom Tancredo but the last time a Congressman was elected Prez was James Garfield in 1880.

Got a fourth choice? Consider someone who can win; Condi.

When are we going to face the facts. Abortion is no longer a political issue; it's a Judicial Issue. Therefore you vote for a candidate who will appoint judges who will interpret the laws.

...her being single is bothersome to some on the religious right.

"SOME" possibly but not many. Why is it bothersome? Do they think she's a lesbian because she is not married. I guarantee you that most of these "religious right" people have kids who've been married and divorced two or three times and messed up their kids lives; so, which is worse?

Compared to all the other Republican potential candidates, Dr. Condoleezza Rice is the best choice to defeat the Democrats. She could destroy the Democrat Party by bringing home to the Republican Party enough conservative females and blacks to leave the Democrats as a permanent minor party down with all the other third parties.
Besides...
She is the best qualified of all the potential Republican candidates. Foreign policy and international affairs are THE major responsibility of a President. Leave the domestic stuff to state governers.
Also...
One single issue I use as a litmus test before I consider any other qualification is a candidate's stand on the Second Amendment. If they are anti-RKBA then I don't consider them any further since without the Second Amendment the rest of our rights are at risk. I don't trust any of the other likely Republican candidates with our RKBA. Condi is a Second Amendment absolutist. That she is ALSO extremely experienced in foreign affairs makes her the most qualified.

Condi's pro-abortion. She can never win the primaries.

Figures that a woman who raised a lesbian daughter would endorse a pro-abortion Republican candidate.

QUalifications aren't what they are cracked up to be. Leadership and backbone are more important.

Say it loud - domestic issues should be left to the states.

Another thing that the anti-Condi crowd keeps harping on is her supposed pro-choice stance. These people seem to forget that George Bush didn't end abortion, neither did Clinton, neither did Bush I, neither did Reagan, neither did Carter, neither did Ford, neither did Nixon. But they don't want Condi to be president because SHE won't end it.

I don't see their logic.

Condoleezza Rice is Pro-Abortion. No thanks. So is Rudy Guiliani, but he polls higher.
