SOME WEDNESDAY SPIN! Most in US see no tie between Iraq, terror war: poll Tue Aug 22, 10:29 PM ET A majority of Americans no longer see a link between the war in Iraq and Washington's broader anti-terrorism efforts despite President George W. Bush's insistence the two are intertwined, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released on Tuesday. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed said the war in Iraq was separate from the U.S. government's war on terrorism. The findings were a considerable shift from polls taken in 2002 and early 2003, when a majority considered the two to be linked, The New York Times said. As recently as June, opinion was evenly split, with 41 percent on both sides of the divide. Now only 32 percent considered Iraq to be a major part of the fight against terrorism, the newspaper said. According to the poll, 46 percent said the Bush administration had concentrated too heavily on Iraq and not enough on terrorists elsewhere. Fifty-three percent said going to war in the first place was a mistake, up from 48 percent in July, The New York Times said. Bush's approval ratings remained unchanged at 36 percent. His popularity has been damaged by the unpopular war in Iraq, in which the U.S. military death toll is 2,610. As recently as Monday, Bush defended the invasion of Iraq as crucial to preventing more domestic terror attacks. "If you believe that the job of the federal government is to secure this country, it's really important for you to understand that success in Iraq is part of securing the country," Bush said during a news conference. The unpopularity of the Iraq war has many Republicans nervous about the party's chances in the November midterm elections in which Democrats are seeking to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. The Times/CBS News poll of 1,206 adults was conducted Thursday through Monday and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Butch: I got a great idea where we should go next.
Sundance: I don't want to hear it.
Butch: You'll change your mind when I tell ya.
Sundance: Shut up.
Butch: OK, OK.
Sundance: It's your great ideas that got us here.
Butch: Forget about it.
Sundance: I don't ever want to hear another one of your ideas. All right?
Butch: All right.
Sundance: OK.
Butch: Australia - I figured secretly you wanted to know, so I told ya. Australia.
Sundance: That's your great idea?
Butch: Oh, the greatest in a long line.
Sundance: Australia's no better than here.
Butch: That's all you know.
Sundance: Name me one thing better.
Butch: They speak English in Australia.
Sundance: They do?
Butch: That's right, smart guy, so we wouldn't be foreigners. They got horses in Australia. And they got thousands of mountains you can hide out in. And good climate. Nice beaches. You could learn to swim.
Sundance: No swimming! It isn't important.

ROFL
No denying the possible effects of time in the "Hilton", however, IMHO the time inside the Beltway has more to do with the selective memory and inability to remember what team he's playing for than the things that happened during his captivity.
On top of that, he's obviously decided that the media is his REAL base and he's just playing the song the MSM wants him to sing.
I never used to call myself a vet either, since I wasn't in combat. (Still wonder to this day how I would have reacted though) Then a FReeper whose name I can't remember admonished me about that a while back. I'm coming around. It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
(: could't have said it better myself
And Giuliani does not agree with half of it. 80% of Republicans agree with ALL of it,
Oh really !!!!!!!!! (want to check your facts?)
For the 2008 Republican Presidential Nomination whom would you support? (Republicans Only)
Rudy Giuliani 30%
John McCain 20%
Newt Gingrich 17%
Mitt Romney 6%
Bill Frist 5%
George Allen 3%
Rick Santorum 1%
George Pataki 1%
Chuck Hagel 1%
Undecided 16%
Works for me. What's stupid is, the people doing it can be tracked, and it's a felony. Retard liberals. :)
i learned it in when I was in Jrotc that you don't have to fight in a war in order to be a Vet
thats just some dumb poll
Hey mom!
Sometimes we just gotta play the cards we're dealt. If, and granted it's a big if, Guilliani wins the GOP nod, would you vote for him? I would.
AMEN!
Ooh - good one.
We'll see - November 2008 is a long way off - lots of time all of us to come together around a good man, or a good woman.
One things for sure - we will not nominate anyone who will not carry our causes and beliefs forward.
Plenty of time to debate -
Hiya Fuddy!
Not me, i'll vote third party
HEY! I miss you guys! Just have so much work and have been on vacation so catching up and mostly only listening!!! But I will "be back"!
I always wish hubby "Happy Vets day" he served in peacetime under Reagan.
He is not above exploiting our present troops, dead and alive, for his own political purposes.
I don't know
