What Terror? The Protestant Crusade Conspiracy
Spiegel on line ^ | August 23, 2006 | By Brenda Strohmaier

Posted on 08/23/2006 4:33:13 AM PDT by aculeus

Who planted the bombs on German trains? Depends on who you ask. Many Muslims in Germany think it's government conspiracy. Just like with Sept. 11. And London....

This just in: The Lebanese men suspected of having deposited bombs on German trains last months were hired hands -- in the employ of German government itself.

That, at least, is what one 27-year-old from Saudi Arabia believes. "It's all a Protestant crusade," the man explains. "All of northern Germany is Protestant, isn't it? And so is President Bush." Then the man launches into a melange of confusing arguments and historical facts. The bubonic plague, Martin Luther and former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl all make a cameo. It's all connected somehow, the man is sure of it.

The young Saudi Arabian's views may make little sense from a Western point of view, but you can meet him and talk to him at a street corner in the middle of Hamburg, right by the central station. Foreigners from all over the world live in this neighborhood, called St. Georg, and a large number of them are Muslim. Several mosques have been built in the neighborhood. Many nearby stores carry no alcohol -- but they do have electronic memory aides for Koran students on offer.

And then there are the conspiracy theories. They are everywhere -- dozens of them -- including some to explain away Germany's recent terror scare. The others -- some mutually contradictory -- have pat explanations for what's really going on in the world.

They're on to the GRPL!

At some point, perhaps the left will begin to see that they will always blame everyone else, while still taking credit.

It is one thing to blame W, and the USA, but when they begin to make the same claims about Germany, even the most useful idiot has to have a "Whoa!" moment.

Or maybe not.

If protestants are on a crusade, why you you feel safer? Maybe they just missed their intended target. :-)

Actually, that'd be a pretty nice emblem on a satchel. I can see it against a nice, warm, rich, golden leather. :)

Not really really related but thought you might like the heads up, but Christianity Today has the following on front cover of current issue:

Young, Restless, Reformed
Calvinism is making a comeback—and shaking up the church.

Tried to import current issue cover, but couldn't.

I'll have to pick up that issue - thanks for the heads' up! Someone cue up Huey Lewis and the News for me, why doncha?

It's not too hard to figure out, you see it everyday
And those that were the farthest out have gone the other way
You see them on the freeway, It don't look like a lot of fun
But don't you try to fight it; "An idea who's time has come."

Don't tell me that I'm crazy
Don't tell me I'm nowhere
Take it from me
It's hip to be square

THE YOUNG, THE RESTLESS, THE REFORMED

How about a really racy afternoon soap opera? Oh, Reformed, nevermind!

What about the mobs, in Palestine and elsewhere, that celebrated on 9/11? They didn't believe it was a government or Zionist conspiracy.

Don't let the our petty western need for consistency confuse you. These people will say that Muslims had nothing to do with it, while simultaneously bragging that Muslims are laying us low through the commission of such acts. They've got spit for brains.

I hope it's a Protestant conspiracy.

I'd be thrilled to see us "wise as serpents" instead of the all-too-often "distracted as Daffy Duck."

Do you think they want to get even for Holy Inquisition?? Then there would be a lot of burning around. I need to replenish my stock of Prozac. But on the second thought maybe fire-extinquisher would be a better investment :-)))

If Protestants wanted to get even for the Inquisition, the Jews would chip in, and Spain would be seeing more bombs than anyone including France!

It may actually be indicative of how barren their landscape is. They have no heroes, no other feats than death cults to boast of. Their culture made nihilism the equal of creativity to cover for their lack of accomplishment of any kind. They sit on the richest land in the world and have made nothing of it. Contrast the Japanese.

Ohhhhhhhh. I see now. All the civilized people of the world are attacking themselves, just to make the barbarians look bad. What an incredibly clever plan that is...

Correction: That's "a cunning plan..."

It would be a pity. Spain is a great holiday destination.

England should be a safe haven. Elizabeth the First slaughtered a few handfuls of Catholics so we can claim victimhood there.

Come on! Let be far, Don't try to recruit new allies. I'm not so sure, whether Jews would join you anyway, they have a few bones to pick with Protestants too.
