Only one commercial can top the sheer hatred our readers have for the winner of this year's worst-commercial contest. Yes, only creepy, toenail-snapping Digger the Dermatophyte is more hated than the horrendous repetition that is this year's winning loser, the HeadOn headache remedy commercial.
In case you haven't seen it (you can find it on YouTube, but really, why would you want to?), the commercial is as insanely simple as it is annoying. A female voice repeats "HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead!" three times as a blissed-out smug woman rolls what appears to be a Bonne Bell LipSmacker on her head.
What in the name of a glue stick in disguise is going on there? First off, does anyone believe that this works any better than, say, rubbing your head with your hand? Who decided that a commercial where only the product name and tagline are repeated over and over was good advertising? What kind of drugs is the model in the ad actually on? And does anyone know anyone who has ever, ever used this product, or seen it for sale anywhere outside these ads?

One of them looks like a bunch of anti-American, Bush-hating liberals. Reminds me of Peace Studies folks, especially the young girl. Brrr.
My current favorite shows a deserted beach in the moonlight. The camera is facing out to see and is focused where the waves lap over the untouched sand. A wave comes up, and as it recedes you see footprints leading out of the sea. Another wave comes up and washes the footprints away. There is nothing. The moon shines on empty waves.
The logo comes up: US Navy Seals.
Beautiful. Perfect. Some ad agency employs a genius.
That one is downright creepy. I'd hate to be caught in an alley with those two neanderthals. The eyes, it's in the eyes.
I got the impression from the commercial that the guy thinks he's every girl's dream (note how he glances at another woman while he's flirting with Miss Trapped) and won't take "leave me alone" for an answer. In the eye of the beholder, I guess.
Mine too. "Billy Mays here" and I change the channel
and they're so poorly acted. I can't stand them either. No soccer mom I ever knew ever spoke in such a fake and phony way.
Vee Dub in the house! ROFL. Easily the best of the year.
Little Richard will always be a little weird, but I hate the one with Bert Bacharach making a fool of himself. Is he that desperate for money?
I have. There are very very very few people that uptight, but by God they are there.
She sure did. That ad was pure lightning-in-a-bottle.
I think the man who owns Progressive gave the ACLU something like 8 million dollars. THAT turned ME off.
The logo comes up: US Navy Seals.
I just saw that one last night. Wow.
Me too, but ya do have to wonder about anyone who will buy his crapola as he holds up an ME disk -- from what was it 7 years or more ago?
"I'm 72 years old and I can honestly tell you that I have a fuller head of hair after using Avicor than I did when I was 18." (He fails to mention that he was a member of the skinheads when 18.)
Messin with Sasquatch, these have me LMAO.

Mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberry sauce! WHOOO!
Sorry. That commercial is now burned in my brain.
Head-on is awful. But we're all talking about it, so it must have worked to some degree, right?
The Snickers commercial with the guitar strumming weirds me out. I never ate the bars to begin with; now they're dead to me.
The Dunkin' Donuts commercials with the lip syncing also weird me out. They've caused me to reach the conclusion that pleather is evil.
The American Idol Ford commercials are exceptionally irritating, but hey, now at least I know about all the "possibilities" thanks to Taylor Hicks singing while flailing around like he's on fire.
Strangely enough, I find the Geico commercials with Little Richard, Charo, etc. to be funny. Heh.
Cristy Lane and the Ditech guy, whom I'd forgotten about until now. Nope, no use fighting it...
