The Missouri Senate race remains one of the closest in the nation. The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll shows Senator Jim Talent (R) with 46% of the vote and Missouri State Auditor Claire McCaskill (D) at 44% (see crosstabs). A month ago, it was McCaskills turn to hold a statistically insignificant edge, 45% to 42%.

I think the Democrats have already hit their high water mark in Missouri.

McCaskill will most likely cover the blue areas of the state. Which according to the 2000 and 2004 national elections were, Springfield, Kansas City and the independent City of St. Louis. (I live in St. Louis County, which is not part of St. Louis City.) That leaves almost 95% of the state Red.
I personally think it will be a squeeker, but if the Mo Republican Party galvanizes the masses as they did in 2000 and 2004, then Talent will win easily.

I gotta feelin' that Casey is gonna dry up like October corn. Burns is gonna pull it out. Chafee.....who cares?
I think that we may pick up a seat or two in the Senate. We may lose a few seats in the House but we will hold it.

Our voter vault system is outstanding. We have a clear GOTV advantage over the Dems. I am wedded to gettin' a GOP governor elected here in Iowa, otherwise I would love to go to PA.
To: Clintonfatigued
This is the same exact pattern of polling in Missouri as the 2002 Election.
Talent won then. He will win again.

I am wedded to gettin' a GOP governor elected here in Iowa, otherwise I would love to go to PA. Yep. Likewise, I will be working to get Tom Kean Jr. elected to the Senate in NJ (he's one of the two referenced in my tag-line). You're most useful and less of a burden working in your own area, I always figure.

I believe you might be right with one exception.
I sincerely hope that the Senate ends up with Chaffee losing, and that decreases your Senate expectation by 1. In my opinion, that would increase the Republican's power.

I sincerely hope that the Senate ends up with Chaffee losing, and that decreases your Senate expectation by 1. I'll take a net gain of two, with Chaffee losing (which is really more like a gain of 3). How's that?

Isn't MO the state that has judges in place to keep the polls open until the Democrat wins?

"East St. Louis is probably without a doubt largely Democrat. East St. Louis is in Illinois.....not Missouri...."
But that won't stop them from voting in Missouri. Happens in Wisconsin and Illinois all the time -- Democrats in Milwaukee voting in Chicago, and vice versa.
