Bob Laurence, TV critic for the San Diego Union-Tribune, sent a letter to Romenesko setting forth a couple of reasons for the scant coverage given to the kidnapping in Gaza of two Fox News journalists (via Michelle):
... Fox has deliberately set itself apart from other news media. Starting at the top with Roger Ailes, the Fox sales pitch has been to deride other media, to declare itself the one source of the real truth, the sole source of 'fair and accurate' news reporting. As a result, there's not a reservoir of kinship or good will with Fox on the part of the rest of the news media. You can't keep insulting people and then expect friendship when you need it.
You stay classy, San Diego.

Thanks... I emailed him and said.. we only watch FNC. No need for print or msm in our household.
Thank you
(Slapping my forehead) How did I forget that????
Oh yeah, was taking care of my 7 mo old grandson
:-)
McVAIN makes me sick. I would never vote for this pig media hog.
thanks... I sent him a note of conratulations:
cute-
now you sound like the terrorists...
obviously- if someone lives in a country (terrorists) or works for a company (FOX News) that disagrees with your point of view- they deserve to be dead?
these are two human beings. you are pathetic. what you claim to hate and stand against- is exactly what you have now become.
congratulations!
Your post #69 was excellent. Bigotry comes in many forms. The left/MSM's bigotry against people they consider to be Republicans and/or conservatives has found a new low, it seems, when they openly say they don't give a rat's butt about the lives of Steven Centanni and his cameraman.
Wasn't it Charles Dickens who said in A Christmas Carol, "Even the blind men's dogs appeared to know him; and when they saw him coming on, would tug their owners into doorways and up courts; and then would wag their tails as thought they said, "No eye at all is better than an evil eye, dark master."
That is how I feel about this Mr Laurence.
His "sin" was to work for a network perceived by the Left/Dems and their media shills as "right wing." That kind of bigotry is OK among people who spend half their lives lecturing others about not being bigots.
I understand why Fox has taken a low-key approach to reporting the story. They are reporting it, but carefully, since one can never know what would set off the Islamofreaks. But for the rest of the media to ignore the story because the two men work for Fox is just beyond the pale. As I said, only the bluest of blue language would suffice to characterize this turn's comment.
What I meant was, Thanks for the new thread.I ahould have started a separate thread.
What can I say..I am in love with that grandson & do not think so clearly when I am around him, LOL!
Catching up here.
On the way home today, I was listening to Brit. His report was poignant. Thanked all of us for prayers.
Sooner or later I am going to get it right.
Thank YOU for starting the thread
Thank Hoosiermama for pointing me here.
perfect.
I keep messing up my thank yous...so I am gonna stop.
LOL!
I hope you are really sending that to them.
Ahhh, but since FNC isn't talking, maybe they're negotiating and just not advertising that information. This is all so delicate right now that we don't know for sure.
If Fox was to give the story much coverage they'd be accused of jacking up ratings over the kidnapping of their people.
Fox is held to a different standard then the rest of the MSM and while the kidnapping and/or attack on a reporter is world wide coverage for another network, Fox and their employees aren't given the same respect.
Also, Fox (and I'm thankful for this) by not giving the story much coverage isn't giving the terrorists what they want the most, exposure.
CNN did a decent story on the kidnapping this morning. Three or four minutes long, very comprehensive. No snide remarks. Since I hadn't seen anything on the kidnapping in a while on CNN I wondered if it was in response to that column. No news broken in CNN's story, though. Still nothing from the kidnappers.
MSM makes me wanna puke.
I emailed it to him before I posted it on the site.
