ADL Blasts Christian Supremacist TV Special & Book Blaming Darwin For Hitler
New York, NY, August 22, 2006 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today blasted a television documentary produced by Christian broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries that attempts to link Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to Adolf Hitler and the atrocities of the Holocaust. ADL also denounced Coral Ridge Ministries for misleading Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute for the NIH, and wrongfully using him as part of its twisted documentary, "Darwin's Deadly Legacy."
After being contacted by the ADL about his name being used to promote Kennedy's project, Dr. Collins said he is "absolutely appalled by what Coral Ridge Ministries is doing. I had NO knowledge that Coral Ridge Ministries was planning a TV special on Darwin and Hitler, and I find the thesis of Dr. Kennedy's program utterly misguided and inflammatory," he told ADL.
ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman said in a statement:"This is an outrageous and shoddy attempt by D. James Kennedy to trivialize the horrors of the Holocaust. Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people. Trivializing the Holocaust comes from either ignorance at best or, at worst, a mendacious attempt to score political points in the culture war on the backs of six million Jewish victims and others who died at the hands of the Nazis.
"It must be remembered that D. James Kennedy is a leader among the distinct group of 'Christian Supremacists' who seek to "reclaim America for Christ" and turn the U.S. into a Christian nation guided by their strange notions of biblical law."
The documentary is scheduled to air this weekend along with the publication of an accompanying book "Evolution's Fatal Fruit: How Darwin's Tree of Life Brought Death to Millions."
A Coral Ridge Ministries press release promoting the documentary says the program "features 14 scholars, scientists, and authors who outline the grim consequences of Darwin's theory of evolution and show how his theory fueled Hitler's ovens."
Sorry. I didn't hear about scientists performing an experiment that proved conclusively that slavery was wrong.
So what happens in the Messianic future when a thief cannot recompense his victim? The Torah says he is to be sold into slavery and the profit from the sale used to recompense the robbery victim. So . . . you won't let him do this?

First of all, when you define morality (as I do) as "arbitrary Divine decree," it becomes a little silly to say "if G-d is the source of morality." Of course G-d is the source of His Decrees! How could it be otherwise?
I define a sociopath as someone who rejects arbitrary Divine decree.

Unless I can review the steps the organizations took to verify them, it is not worthy of consideration to me. I understand it is plenty for many. But I am a skeptic.
Skeptics study human nature and what motivates men. They understand the urge of a man to hoax. Hoaxers want power over people's minds, and will make up stuff to get it. Your average academician might not know that.
To grant some no-name the authority to describe the motivations of a major historical figure after the figures death is to give a stranger a great power. Too much power to trust the man without a thorough investigation (as in the academic equivalent of a strip-search).

I cannot judge what Kennedy said regarding Darwin and Hitler. However, there is no doubt that the theory of natural selection was adopted, and distorted, by the so-called scientific racists of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, such as Arthur de Gobineau, Houston Stewart Chamberlain, and Madison Grant, who developed a theory of white and especially Nordic supremacy based on their interpretation of Darwin's works. These "scientific racists" profoundly impacted Hitler and his cohorts in their Nordicism, far more so than did the anti-Semitic rants of Martin Luther.
One might well argue that Darwin, and for that matter Nietzsche, would have been opposed to Nazism had they lived to see its rise. In all probability, Kant and Hegel would have opposed Marxism. Marx himself might have been shocked at some of the actions done in his name by Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, or the Kims of North Korea.
In a like vein, it is absurd to try to link creationists with Muslim extremists. Biblical creationists may share the concept of creation ex nihilo with Muslims, just as Darwin shared his theory of natural selection with Marxists and the so-called scientific racists. The fact that most Christian creationists are fundamentalists or conservative evangelicals, a group that is generally more supportive of Israel than anyone outside the Jewish community, indicates the absurd nature of any linkage with profoundly anti-Semitic Muslim extremists.

As I mentioned earlier, ZC appears to be exempt from the usual FR rules against promoting slavery, upholding the Constitution and so forth. His prsence will do wonders for the site's reputation when it gets quoted on the Daily KOS.
After reading through posts from ZC, the only conclusion I can reach that makes sense to me is that ZC converted to Judaism, and was either a Messianic Jew from the outset, or accepted Jesus of Nazareth as Moshiach/Messiah after conversion. ZC, this is my honest assessment, and is not intended to derogate.

I don't know why you think J*sus has anything to do with any of this. Despite the tradition of liberals and atheists to pin everything religious on chr*stianity (which didn't exist until 2000 years ago), the fact is that if you read the "new testament" you will find that J*sus was about a zillion miles to the Left of the Jewish G-d, the Jealous G-d of Israel. In fact, many "anti-chr*stians," after attacking Genesis, will turn right around and endorse the "sermon on the mount!"
Chr*stianity, at least theoretically, is a salvational religion. By nature (so it claims) all humans are born subject to Satan, and G-d does not become one's G-d until one "passes from nature to grace." This is sheer nonsense. G-d is G-d, He created everything and everyone and gave His Laws to 'Adam HaRi'shon, to Noach, to the 'Avot, and finally to Moses and Israel on Mt. Sinai. G-d is already the G-d of everything and everyone, and every human being born into the world is statutorily obligated to live by His Laws. In other words, religion in Judaism/Noachism is statutory rather than salvational. How did statutory religion ever come to be associated with the liberal religion known as chr*stianity (aside from a certain amount of chr*stian inconsistency on the issue, of course)?
All Orthodox Jews believe the Torah was written entirely by G-d and is absolute and eternal. This is not a chr*stian doctrine. Unfortunately, most non-Jews are so blasted ignorant about Judaism. They know absolutely nothing about it, especially when they attack Jewish concepts or sacred texts as "chr*stians." Really, how many non-Jews know anything about Seider Hazkarot HaNeshamot or Simchat Beit HaSho'evah?
The Jewish people are not a religious denomination. They are a Theocratic nation in exile, and they are so right in the open, in front of everyone, yet no one seems to be able to see it! Most frustrating, I must say.
