This battle is lost. There must be a better battle to fight.
What next? Banning cigarettes from restraurants, private businesses and federal buildings?
Geez. Just don't order the damned things if you don't want to view them. It's not like they're on when you turn on the set.
Nanny-stater ping.
Aren't they about 25 years late?
Now most hotels have free wireless connection to the Internet.

For a like reason, I made no reference to the "power to regulate commerce among the several States." I always foresaw that difficulties might be started in relation to that power which could not be fully explained without recurring to views of it, which, however just, might give birth to specious though unsound objections. Being in the same terms with the power over foreign commerce, the same extent, if taken literally, would belong to it. Yet it is very certain that it grew out of the abuse of the power by the importing States in taxing the non-importing, and was intended as a negative and preventive provision against injustice among the States themselves, rather than as a power to be used for the positive purposes of the General Government, in which alone, however, the remedial power could be lodged.

Volume 2, Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3 (Commerce), Document 19
Now under what enumerated power do these people envision the federal government making sure nobody watches pornography in a hotel?
There is a large group posting here--much larger even than the self-described "libertarians"--who seem to love porn so much that they regard the chance to view it as their most basic human and constitutional right. They turn out in droves whenever anyone suggests restricting it (not banning it, just restricting it) to keep it away from kids.
Just a few years ago (when most of these guys were young), porn was an "under the counter" sort of business, the sort of thing associated with dirty old men in raincoats. The idea that children would routinely be exposed to it was just unthinkable.
The cultural decline in this country has been precipitous, and it's certainly not all the fault of liberals.
Porn is something you have to order special and pay for. However...
FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING THAT IS GOOD, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SOMEBODY START A MOVEMENT TO REMOVE THE WEDDING CRASHERS FROM HOTEL ROOM TELEVISION!
These are the PR stunts that make conservatives look ditsy.
No matter how valid a position, we loose because peole are free NOT to buy and free to even have it blocked from their rooms.
They might as well complain about the cost of penuts in the minibar.
Is there a law somewhere telling people they have to order porn when staying at a hotel or a motel?
No? Ok, then why bother at all trying to ban something. Freedom of choice is a wonderful thing.
Choose not to order.....it's really simple.
Worthy of the Nanny State Ping List? I don't partake in porn, but then I don't smoke after sex, either. ;)
Either way, this is still WRONG. Maybe some of the Smoke Gnatzies that show up on our Smokers Rights Threads will "get it" if they can see where taking away ANY legal adult commodity leads?
Nah. Probably not, LOL!
They are getting ready for a good olde fashion book burning party. But remember no alcohol, no music and no dancing and you women stay out of sight, and keep covered up. Where have I seen this before.
If you are trying to limit other people's choices and freedom, you are not a conservative but a BIG GOVERNMENT LIBERAL.
I'll send my invoice in the mail.
These people need to get a life. No wonder I'm a small "L" Libertarian. I hate busybodies from "conservatives" just as bad as from liberals.
More of the big government nanny-state "conservatism" that has become so widespread these days.
Without reading the whole thread, I'm really glad the border problem and illegal immigration problems are fixed to that the conservatives can devote resources to this pressing national problem. / s
