Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexey Gordeev met with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday in Sochi to discuss trade with the United States. Gordeev has suggested depriving the U.S. of its 80-percent quota on chicken imports to Russia in response to the U.S. refusal to sign off on Russia's accession to the World Trade Association.

To me, by definition, this threat disqualifies them from membership in WTO.
Of course, we may be doing them a favor in denying them membership.

To me, by definition, this threat disqualifies them from membership in WTO. You got it mixed up, it is the member states of WTO who are not allowed to impose such tariffs. If you are not a member you can do as you please.
Of course, we may be doing them a favor in denying them membership.
Yes, indeed. It is a GREAT favor.

Russia and the US have been playing chicken since 1945. They used to call it the cold war.

The really short version. There is nothing about help given to the White Army. Only that strategic ports were seized for a while but it was done in self-interest.
The only thing I know were "allied" embargoes/pressures put on White Army in order to get political concessions and seizure of Russian fleet off Crimea (and assets) in the most critical moment. It weakened White Army.
