Mexicanization? [of America]
WCFonline ^ | 8/22/06

Posted on 08/22/2006 7:20:30 AM PDT by XR7

"The number of immigrants living in American households rose 16 percent over the last five years, fueled largely by recent arrivals from Mexico, according to fresh data released by the Census Bureau.

And increasingly, immigrants are bypassing the traditional gateway states like California and New York and settling directly in parts of the country that until recently saw little immigrant activity - regions like the Upper Midwest, New England and the Rocky Mountain States.

'...Essentially, it's a continuation of the Mexicanization of U.S. immigration,' said Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies. 'You would expect Mexicans to be increasing their share in places like Georgia and North Carolina, which already saw some increases, but they've also increased their share of the population, and quite dramatically, in states like Michigan, Delaware and Montana.'

More of America's immigrants, legal or not, come from Mexico than any other country, an estimated 11 million in 2005, compared with nearly 1.8 million Chinese and 1.4 million Indians."

Push #1 if you wish to hear this message in English, #2 in Spanish. That is not going to change.

Yes it is! The greetings will become primarily Spanish with an English option!!!

Please email your Members of Congress asking them to oppose the "One Face at the Border" initiative...

Why?
Sounds like the initiative makes sense to me.
Why do we need three bureaucracies involved?
It is a mess now. What good have they done?
If you want us to write our Congressmen, tell us some good reasons why.

"In 2020 there will still be a boarder on the souther end of the current USA ... but it will be just like the state boarders between Texas and OK, LA, and NM ... i.e., Mexico will be PART of the USA."

Exactly. But watch, because they will have all of the same rights and advantages that we have here but we will have no rights or recourse down there.

One reason they said is because so many are already here and the other is because Mexico supposedly has one of the lowest birth rates now.

I'm not re-assured. Cause they have one of the highest here.

An interesting axiom about Mexican immigrants is that their behavior as immigrants is heavily influenced by where they have landed.

If they join a large immigrant community, their integration is strongly inhibited--it is too easy not to integrate.

Conversely, if they go it alone as a family into an already integrated mixed community, their integration is extra-rapid.

Typically, waves of immigrants to the US, who where more or less ghetto-ized in the cities, took three generations to integrate. The first generation was still part of the "old country". The second generation were "neither here nor there"--and where ethnic mafias and criminal gangs originated. Finally the third generation was fully integrated and left the ethnic ghetto.

Those immigrants who bypassed the cities and moved out to rural areas to form their own communities were the least likely to immigrate--some of their towns are still very much "old country". The various "Germantowns", for example.

Again, those individual families who "go it alone" into mixed communities can experience the "three generations" at a rapid clip, even at the same time.

Grandparents are still old world and probably don't speak English. They are hard working in whatever job or jobs they can get. Parents are "fish out of water", and often have social problems. Grandchildren are fully Americanized and have little or no connection with the old world.

Mexicans, on top of everything else, are doing all of the above at the same time. The fully integrated often become annoyed at even being called "Mexican-Americans", thinking of themselves as "Americans". They typically hold the same differences of opinion as do other Americans, about illegal and legal immigration. (Many though do have a deep-seated fear of being persecuted, even sent "home" to Mexico, even though they have never been there and may not even speak Spanish.)

The second-generation Mexican-Americans are the most problematic, forming the majority of criminals in their community that are not illegal-alien-Mexican-national criminals.

The third-generation Mexican-Americans have a strong inclination to belong to the American middle class, and have no use for the nation of Mexico.

He was born in the US. His parents refused to speak Spanish to their kids. Their theory was they live here now, and we speak English.

KUDOS

I work with a guy who's mother is Polish. She refused to allow him to speak Polish as he was growing up for the same reason.

Each of these men is a hero of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and all Americans -- regardless of ethnicity -- should be proud of them and should honor them. I know I do.

But these brave men are VERY different from those to whom we object. Each of these men was a legal resident or citizen (naturalized or born) of the USA. They BELONGED here, fought for this nation, and became ONE OF US. That's is NOT what the illegals want. They want to come here but still maintain political, nationalistic ties to their mother country; they refuse to assimilate; they refuse to come here through the LEGAL methods, which are VERY liberal and VERY easy to abide by. We object NOT to brown people, but to people (of any ethnicity) who come here in contravention of our laws and who do not wish to enter the melting pot and become one of US.

It would behoove those who support legal immigration from Mexico and the rights and hard-fought honors of people of Hispanic decent to to STOP drawing the erroneous straw-man connections between opposition to illegal immigration and LEGAL immigration. Just because we oppose illegal immigration does NOT mean that we don't welcome legal immigrants ... i.e., people who go through the proper channels, obtain the proper documentation, and who want to come and live here and be ONE OF US.

Ethnicity has nothing to do with this. It's a matter of law.

Yup. All you got to do is go to an ATM our dial your insurance company. Push #1 if you wish to hear this message in English, #2 in Spanish. That is not going to change. Pity.

I had an occasion to call Cox Cable in Phoenix. The only choice I got was press #1 for English. That leads me to believe the default language would have been Spanish.

Oh please, cut the crap! I made it very clear I was referring to illegals. Most of the people you linked to were not illegals.

Our emergency rooms are full of illegals. Many of our schools are being dumbed down because of illegals. Our welfare and social services are being strained because of illegals. Our prisons have large illegal populations. Etc, etc.

This is all pretty much moot anyway. The damage is done.

"WHY?"

O.K. If you're satisfied with the way the border situation is, then by all means don't take the time to write your congressman.

In 2003 when the Congress combined the U.S. Customs Service, Immigration and Naturalization Service(INS) and Agriculture, it was done so to cover up the mistakes of the INS.

What mistakes say you ?

The huge mistake of admitting into the U.S., 19 Saudi Student Pilots with valid Visas issued by the incompetent and left leaning Dept. Of State. Can you recall what those student pilots did on 9-11-01?

The U.S. Customs Service interdicted and effectively captured the Millineum Bomber and Port Angeles, the previous year 1999/2000.

By combining 3 different agencies, your Congress and Whitehouse diluted the inspectional expertise of the U.S. Customs Service which effectively interdicted terrorists, in order to cover up for the ineffectual Immigration and Naturalization Service(INS).

I know this is way over y'alls heads, but you've been sold a bill goods and smoke screened at the same time, and you civilians have bought it hook, line and sinker.

Have a nice day, anyway.

The biggest failure of the Bush Admin by far! I simply cannot understand their blindness about the invasion of illegals. Bush has failed to keep his oath to protect the nation.

In 2005, Mexico had 21.17/1000 birth rate compared to our 14.14/1000; it will continue to run this way for some time.

I will add to your post that I've noticed that many legal immigrants believe in American values far more than some of the jaded citizens who trash America at every turn, a la The New York Times types.

Just look at how a small town mayor in Wisconsin gets villified by the left for proposing some action... Illegals in Arcadia, Wisconsin .

Pretty sad.
