WASHINGTON, Aug. 21, 2006 – Nationally syndicated columnist Jacey Eckhart has turned from pen to microphone in an effort to help military families tackle unique issues they face.

CinCHouse.com and Operation Homefront recently launched “The Jacey Eckhart Show” on San Diego’s KCBQ 1170 AM, Meredith Leyva, Operation Homefront and CinCHouse.com founder, said in an Operation Homefront news release. The 8 a.m. Sunday morning show features discussions, interviews and listener call-ins on topics ranging from marriage and parenting to Tricare benefits.

“No one but Jacey can be so hysterically funny about the serious topics we deal with in the military,” Leyva said. “We are proud to have Jacey as a host."

Additionally, Operation Homefront will provide a weekly update including community outreach requests for specific services to assist military families with unmet needs.

The show, launched with the support of USAA, the Military Officers Association of America, TriWest Healthcare and Military Spouse Magazine, has global reach thanks to the Internet, Leyva said. It’s available live on the KCBQ Web site, and CinCHouse.com offers the show as a podcast.

Eckhart’s show also has been picked up by WMET 1160 AM in Washington, Leyva said. It airs there Saturdays at 1 p.m.

“We are the busiest generation of military spouses our country has ever known,” Eckhart said. “The one thing we need to make time for is to talk to each other and listen to all the great strategies other spouses are using to jump through military life.”

Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization providing assistance to military families while servicemembers are deployed, according to the organization’s Web site. Operation Homefront also operates CinCHouse.com, an online community of military spouses and women in uniform.

The group is a member of the Defense Department’s America Supports You program, which highlights grassroots and corporate support for U.S. military members.
