Joe Lavigne Says President Bush’s Priorities are Wrong

New Orleans - Joe Lavigne, 2nd Congressional District Candidate, began airing a radio advertisement on WWL 870 AM and 105.3 FM today.

“Sadly, George Bush has forgotten us. He’s spending too much time and money on Iraq – and not enough living up to his promise to rebuild New Orleans. His priorities are wrong,” said Lavigne.

The ad highlights Lavigne’s priorities for our continued rebuilding efforts, and introduces Lavigne as the candidate who will work to put New Orleans first.

“New Orleanians are stepping up to the plate and rebuilding their lives one house and one business at a time, but we still need Washington to deliver on their promises of support to make our city secure for future generations, ” said Lavigne.

The ad will air during the “Morning Drive” with Bob DelGiorno and Monica St. Pierre, the “John ‘Spud’ McConnell Show”, the “Rush Limbaugh Show”, and Garland Robinette’s “Think Tank.”

Joe Lavigne, a former Jones Walker attorney, is the Republican candidate for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District. Lavigne's latest FEC report indicates that he raised over $242,000 before the July 22 deadline, and that he out raised William Jefferson by close to $100,000 for the last quarter.

A press packet is available upon request that includes a photograph of the candidate, biographical information about the candidate, and an outline of Lavigne’s legislative priorities.

As a citizen of Louisiana and a native New Oleanian--as well as a lifelong Republican, member of the RNC, RNCC and RNSC, I am embarrassed by this candidate for Congress in my hometown. To say that the President should be more focused on New Orleans and the reason he isn't is because he is "too" focused on Iraq is absurd. I will do everything in my power to see to it that this moron is not elected so much as dogcatcher. It pains me greatly that a Republican from New Orleans would be taking basically the same approach that Howard Dean would take if he was running. I apologize to the rest of America on behalf of this creep. I especially apologize to our brave fighting men and women who have sacrificed so much in Iraq.

Those people of New orleans aho are rebuilding one business, one home at a tim are the people that new Orleans needs.

Those people who are waiting for new homes to be built for them are the ones New Orleans doesnt need anyway.

The federal government didn't build New Orleans and it shouldn't re-build it.

Too bad N.O. has no chance of electing a real Republican, or even a RINO like this guy.

But the N.O. suburbs have Bobby Jindal, thankfully.

Here are my thoughts. Let this guy and the rest of the Dems run against President Bush. The President isn't on the ballot. While Lavigne is busy running against the President, we will run against Mr. Lavigne, his policy stances, his positions on the issues, his background, his qualifications. Perhaps the voters will care more about Mr. Lavigne who wants to represent them in congress than they do about Mr. Bush who, by the way, is not on the ballot.

Jindal is fantastic. One of the best young minds in the GOP anywhere. He will be our next governor and, hopefully, one day a US Senator.

If the federal government is suppose to rebuild New Orleans, they should rebuild it 60 miles inland.

I e-mailed, I did not call. I sent the message on Sunday. No response so far.

Try calling. That forces them to deal with you when you choose to call, instead of when they choose to answer your e-mail.

Better yet, send a real paper letter. I've read in the past few years that Congressional offices attach far greater weight to a letter someone took the time to write and mail than an e-mail that takes not much time to write.

FWIW, I really like what I've seen of Jindal. He strikes me as good people.

It is sad that we cannot all have the clarity of mind of LSUfan. As a veteran and fellow New Orleanian I have had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Lavigne he is articulate, principled, and seems to have the integrity that is not often seen in politics. His admonishing of the president was dead on. He has come out and said what many republicans are thinking. Before dealing insults perhaps it would do you some good to contact his office and do a little research first. You spew your meberships as if they were degrees, why not call the RNCC and tell them that you don't agree with their support of Mr. Lavigne. His love of New Orleans is greater than his fear of upsetting a few mud slingers. So LSUfan (where Mr. Lavigne got his Law Degree) while I'm sure your fanaticism runs deep, why not take another look at your city. By the way "too" was a quote written by the dead pelican I'm sure
