Hillary Clinton setting up for presidential run

US Senator and former First Lady Hillary Clinton is quietly putting in place the infrastructure and logistics for a White House run.

Although the wife of former president Bill Clinton officially remains focused on her reelection race as New York state's US senator, her strategists told Time magazine that they are urging her to make her intentions clear about running for the US presidency by next spring, to lock in funding and political talent.

The magazine to hit newsstands Monday reported that Democrat Clinton so far has collected 33 million dollars in campaign contributions, of which 10 million dollars or more might be squirreled away for an eventual White House run.

She also has assembled a small army of 32 full-time staffers and 13 political consultants, and has devised the outlines of a centrist campaign agenda that focuses on energy policy, the economy, and privacy, among other issues.

She also has a national direct-mail and Internet operation in the works, the magazine reported.

And of course, she has perhaps her most important asset, her husband and top political strategist Bill Clinton, who is "thinking about (her presidential prospects) all the time," one of Hillary's advisers told Time.

"He's thinking about it and talking to a lot of people, promoting Hillary. This is something he is very focused on."

Texas insurance mogul and philanthropist Bernard Rapoport, a longtime Clinton friend and backer, told the magazine: "He thinks that she should run, and he's going to do everything possible to help her."

Clinton, long hated by Republicans, also appears to be winning over more of the public. A Time poll found that 53 percent of respondents had a favorable impression of Clinton -- higher than most

Clinton, long hated by Republicans...

I think "hate" is a rather inappropriate term here...

loathe, despise, execrate, contemn, detest sure, but not exactly "hate".

As do I. Only the GOP's incompetence could put her in the White House.

There were a total of 451 respondents in the Time poll. No conservative (or for that matter anyone I know) reads Time. The number of respondents really made me laugh out loud - for a long time.

Who do they think they are kidding with this bs nonsense? Hillary is one of the most hated people in American politics. I don't care how much money she or anyone else throws in her direction, it won't do any good. Even forgetting everything else, Hillary is just not a likeable candidate, period.

You're right, Doug. She and Bill sold their souls to the devil and you can't tell what will happen. deception is satan's greatest tool and you know how many people have been deceived by these two minions of hell.

If New York dumps this junior senator in Nov. as they should, she is running for two offices at once which will leave them without a senator of their choice - dump her and get on with electing a Senator who will work for the State of New York - she is never going to be elected POTUS, and if reelected senator, will be too busy running for the next office to be of any good to New York State. Ms. Clinton is their Boss Tweed, good only for those that need or are willing to sell their souls for greed.........

The books about Ms. Clinton:

"I've Always been a Yankees Fan"
Hell to Pay
Hillary's Scheme
At Any Cost

Whitewater
Unlimited Access
Hillary's Secret War and others.

Don't ever forget that "We are the President" - so all books about Bill have the heavy hand of Ms. C. also. For a history on the corrupt Democratic party, be sure to read "Donkey CONS" - 'Sex, Crime, and Corruption in The Democratic Party'... too be sure, Republicans have thier own corrupt people, but they always step aside or are jailed. Democrats rarely do any of the former, they just ignor criminal acts, say they did nothing wrong and move on.

Well, there is that--LOL! But she breezed through without anyone being able to touch her. She was never charged nor convicted of anything that I know of.

Executive privilege! In 1998, a clerk at the DC District Court wrote an interesting article in the Wall street Journal about her role and Slick Wilie's, in getting "friendly" (meaning bought and paid for)judges seated on cases involving potentional embarrassment to the Clintons or their administration. Let's just say it didn't make the CBS evening news.
