You are nitpicking the term, my sense is his not being a team player unless he is the beneficiary.

His CFR bill is a disaster. His lukewarm endorsement of Bush while playing nice with Kerry. His comments about the Religious Right. And the gang of 13. His support of The Wicked Witch of NY. How many do you need? He doesn't think he needs the base.

Pray for W and Our Troops

#154, Ronald Reagan was the originator of Free Trade, and as usual was ahead of his time. Hagel clearly has no vision and no ability to see more than 1 inch in front of his nose. He needs to remember that he is a Registered Republican, and whining, and bleating is not a normal Pubbie characteristic,it is so metrosexual DUmmocrat.

You've got a bit of pomposity going there, don't you? I need no lessons from you in either English or armaments.

Well, you need lessons from somebody

Words have meaning. So do metaphor.

I believe it would be either "so does metaphor" or "so do metaphors."  And you're a college professor ?  In the College of Education?

My initial post to you was meant to be humorous, merely pointing out that the metaphor was wrongly applied and indicated a lack of familiarity with the origin of the phrase.  Your snappish response "Step Off" indicates that you and McCain share an uneven and unfortunate temperament.

I am done, sir.

McCain sort of promised Harry Reid and other Dem leaders that he would vote with Dem caucus if he wins. This saves him from their withering fire. But if they start to push him around, he can always switch. He could switch anyway, but would be seen as a turncoat (ala Jumping Jim Jeffords). He might also incur the wrath of Connecticut voters, but he will probably not want to run again anyway. Next to Zell Miller, Smokin' Joe is my favorite "Dem" Senator.

Am I McCain? Jeez, you caught me. Yep. I signed up here 8 years ago in preparation for the 08 campaign.

Spike likley falls into one of three categories.

1) Knows exactly how inept and corrupt NO and LA politicians are, but hides those facts intentionally,
ala M. Moore style propaganda.

2) Is ignorant of the incompetency of both the NO/LA
leadership, therefore making him utterlay lazy and
incompetent/uninformed himself.

3) Knows all about the incompetency of the pre-hurricane non-evacuation and squandering of federal levee monies for decades, but has pshycologically blocked that out of his mind, as it interferes with the emotional hate driven tirades typical of the angry left and angry black communities.

My guess is #3. He's part of the selectively ignorant whose agenda cannot be based in reasonable debate, but rather is reflexive to rage inside.

Speaking of Ailes, and Fox,Murdoch, how about the New Fox deal that will have a Channel strictly devoted to Business? I know it is in the planning stages and Cavuto may be head of this. Does anyone know what is going on with that?

CNN President Jonathan Klein says - Fox will remain No. 1 for as long as George W. Bush stays at the White House. That's how strong a base Fox has built among supporters of the president. CNN most likely won't make any dramatic strides until the U.S. acts to have a Democrat living in the White House.

CNN is in for a great disappointment come 2009 ... because they STILL won't get the viewers back

I can't believe world leaders are still relying on the UN, especially where Iran is concerned

It's called pass the buck .. they have the guts to do it themselves

"Like, I think, most Americans, I'm not on the anti-immigrant train."

Are you being obtuse on purpose, or are you just ignorant? Find me anyone who is "on the anti-immigrant train". You'd be hard-pressed to do so.

Most Americans are opposed to ILLEGAL immigration, and they are disgusted that it has been allowed to get so totally out of control! There is a difference.

These "most Americans" include rank & file Dhimmicrats - they are sitting this one out in favor of watching from the sidelines in the hopes that the Repubs will tear each other apart over the issue.

McInsane plays the "stand in the middle of the road" on this issue and this is one of the many reasons that I will actively support whatever candidate opposes him (for the Republican nomination).

Well, I sure don't want to nitpick.

I disagree with him on CFR. I thought his endorsement of Bush was just fine (regarding his friendship with Kerry, I see that as an effort to restore comnity to politics). That "gang of 13" thing worked out pretty well for our side in terms of getting judges on the court. And I'm not sure what you mean by him supporting Hillary--in what sense has he done that, other perhaps than in a personal way?

Is that the best you can offer?

Well, first of all, I don't think Hillary will get the nomination. She has spent too much time "triangulating." The left wants someone like Kerry or Gore, and the more centrists democrats want someone like Bayh (my big fear). If McCain gets the nomination against Bayh, he will lose. He's not as photogenic and Bayh doesn't carry any personal baggage. If McCain gets the nomination against Kerry, the left will trot out his POW record and make Kerry look like a war hero in comparison. If he were to run against Gore, Gore will attack him on the Keating 5.

He said that HilaryCare would make a good President. No that is not the best I have to offer since we have a couple years. He has so many bones in his closet, his opponents are going to have a field day.

His immigration bill is a disaster and I am for Guest Workers. He does not have the temperment for President and that will be/was his main downfall and why he will run Independent.

His base is the Stone-age press.

Pray for W and Our Troops

Almost everything was ready for launch this fall but, not enthusiastic backing from trade organizations - like Chamber of Commerce & others. So, a little postponement while they try to aquire Echo-star. Without business backing, it would be harder finacially. Business community is not fully satisfied with the current set-up.

Your initial post to me was written as if from someone with a mind like a steel trap and a condescending attitude, as if I didn't know the "true meaning" of "loose cannon" and as if my expression was to be taken narrowly and literally. Maybe you didn't mean it that way, but that's how it came across.

There is no way I'll put time and effort into getting someone nominated who has no chance of winning a national race

An you are supporting McCain? That a serious intellectual disconnection from political reality you got going there. McCain CANNOT win either the primary nor the General election. You would have a better chance or running Bush Sr again then you would with McCain in 2008. He is simply way to Old Boy Washington to win a National Election. Even on the Social issues he is playing kissy face with the Soro's pretend Republican pro Abortion groups. Sorry but you simply must make peace with this reality.

JOHN MCCAIN will never be either a Candidate for, nor President of, the USA.

First, there are lots of Freepers who are totally anti-immigration, but I know that's not what you meant. Second, I, and I think most Americans, support a reasonable policy toward illegal immigration, a policy more in line with President Bush and John McCain than with the "let's build us a big ol' barbed wire fence" crowd.

#167, I don't think so,but will have to watch repeat later. David Broder is so full of himself, and does not realize that he passed his Peak a very long time ago, sadly the same goes for former Conservative Commentators like George Will. Nobody close to them is honest enough to tell them to "get the hell off the stage",they are doing the equivalent of Vaudeville routines from the 1930's 70 years after the fact. Somebody give them the hook!

Thanks, rockrr. I was going to respond to the nonsensical implication that opposition to McCain/Kennedy means you are opposed to immigration, but you did a better job of it than I would have.

Every one has something they can be attacked on. I think McCain will hold up quite well against the people you mention. Bayh is a lightweight, Kerry and Gore are used goods. With Rudy on the ticket, I really think we'd have a winner.
