Lebanon threatens to halt deployment The Lebanese defence minister has threatened to halt the army's deployment in south Lebanon if the UN does not take up the issue of Saturday's Israeli commando raid.

"If there are no clear answers forthcoming on this issue, I might be forced to recommend to the cabinet early next week the halt of the army deployment in the south," Elias Murr said after a meeting with UN representatives on Saturday.

I guess this sort of shows Hizbollah didn't win the war and give Israel a huge strategic setback. And after all, who was it whining for a ceasefire? If Hizbollah had Israel on the verge of defeat, would they demand a ceasefire?

Israel is going to continue going after arms shipments to Hezbollah if the Lebanese army won't do the job. The message needs time to sink in Beirut.

(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo!)

It's unclear to me what Israel gains from the Lebanese army moving south anyway... won't that just make it more difficult when the inevitable next war against Hizballah comes?

I think that was the point of it. To make it more difficult for Israel, that is.

The way the Lebanese government is behaving, my attitude is this. The Lebanese Army in Southern Lebanon makes for a more target rich environment.

The Lebanese Army are cowards and they're looking for any excuse. The whole government is under death threats from Hizb'allah I'm sure.

In my estimation it just makes it easier. If they have their hands up with a white flag, no bango; if their hands have a weapon in them, Bango! No muss, no fuss.

Fine. Stay in Beirut. France's silly resolution failed (they wrote it before they were against it). Let the war begin again and end when Israel prevails.

Isn't the Lebanese army just another tentacle of Hezbollah, which is another tenacle of Iran?

"The Lebanese defence minister has threatened to halt the army's deployment in south Lebanon..."

How would you know?

The Lebanese Army was trained by the French, I believe?

"Lebanon threatens to halt deployment"

Lebanese themselves say they army is a big fat goose egg. How not deploying something that will do nothing if deployed is supposed to be a "threat"?!

The Israeli time is coming. Let's hope that they wise up this time and destroy all of Lebanon and all of Syria. Believe me, Iran will not lift a finger to defend either. You cannot logically deal with fanatic maniacs. End of lesson one. Lesson two, destroy the entire USA Democrat Party at the voting booth or watch your children get slaughtered down the line. Wake up American boys and girls. Listen to a few phone calls from the trapped folks in the WTC on 911. Thanks Bill Clinton, you murderer of American innocents, you and your filthy, low life Democrat Party!!!

The IDF could always restart the war.

It's called "staying out of harm's way". As must be obvious to all but the meanest of intelligence, even liberals, the UN is NEVER gonna get there, in time, way late or ever. That piece of paper from the UN was simply crinkled up and blew away in the wind. The Lebanese army just looked down into the yawning gates of Hell, and turned around for home.

They would only be targets anyway. Of the Hezbollah.

Two big oxymorons: "moderate Arab," and "Lebanese army".

Correct. It is a grave miscalculation. Lebanese army human shields.
