He also hired Republican pollster Neil Newhouse, who lists two key Connecticut Republicans, Gov. M. Jodi Rell and U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons, among his clients.
Lieberman, who must appeal to Republicans and unaffiliated voters to beat Lamont and Republican Alan Schlesinger in November, touted the new hires as proof of his campaign's bipartisanship.
"They are not just among the best in their respective businesses, but they bring a deep knowledge of Connecticut from across the political spectrum, which will be essential to our effort to build a broad coalition of Democrats, Republicans, and independents," Lieberman said in a release.

Neil Newhouse is among the top dogs. Surprised he's actually still available this late in the season. 'Ol Joe is swingin' for the fences.
He got 48% of the votes in the Democrat primary. My guess is that among Democrats in general (in Connecticut), Lieberman is the favorite. He just needs a few indies and pubbies to get over the top.
If he is going to run as an Independent, he is going to need to hire quite a few new 'turd shiners' as it is going to be a tough fight.
If he can just get all the "guest bassists' of Govt Mule to vote for him then he'll whip NedLament in a hurry.
Maybe they're the same ones who advised him in 1988 (H/T to on-the-ball Freeper, Liz)
Lieberman's biggest scam was getting into the Senate seat on the backs of the unborn. This craven individual, Lieberman, ruthlessly used the unborn to get into office.
As a 1988 Senate candidate, Lieberman made many, many pro-life pledges to Connecticut Catholic leaders as Atty General running for pro-abort Sen Weicker's seat.
Based on an internal Lieberman poll indicating pro-life votes were there for the taking, Lieberman assiduously courted Catholics, and made pro-life promises that he had no intention of keeping. Lieberman got into the Senate----with pro-life votes.
Lieberman musta laughed all the way to Washington thinking of the con job he pulled off.
Once in office, Lieberman turned tail and became an unwavering abortion rights supporter----as your list suggests----voting consistently pro-abortion, and even voting to uphold partial-birth abortion on six separate occasions.
Schlesinger should drop out
How many more lunatics are going to suggest that Republicans only vote for the Republicans candidate in this election?
If your choice is between a anti-terrorist Jew who doesn't mind the killing of unborn babies and a pro-terrorist moonbat then the choice is clear to me.
The Republican doesn't have a prayer. It's either Lieberman or Lamont. And the right choice here a no brainer if you give a damn about national security.
I'll call on Schlesinger to drop out the moment you call on Harris to drop out.
They're both polling horribly and need a micirle to beat the Dem, but Harris' exit from the race would leave us with three other Republicans to choose from. Schlesinger's exit from the race would leave us with three socialists on the ballot who all have 90%+ liberal records (pro-partial birth abortion, pro-gay unions, pro-Kyoto, want Rummy driven out of town on a rail, etc.) The only non-socialist on the ballot is Schlesinger
Nice to see you "get behind" the party's nominee, warts and all, in the general election, like you're demanding people do in other Senate races. Oh wait...
I don't vote for hardcore socialists regardless of party. If choosing between a 95% liberal and a 100% liberal (and forcing the Republican out of race) is OKAY as long as the 95% liberal voted the "right" way on National Security, then we might as well have a Presidential election between Hillary and Ralph Nader.
They both want partial birth abortion, gun confiscation, gay marriage, etc., but it doesn't matter if they enslave us domestically as long as one of them will keep troops in Iraq.
Vote for the Hilderbeast, she supported us on Iraq! (and her conservative rating last year was even four points higher than your hero Joe Lieberman). The Republicans should drop out and just concede to the beast. Way to go Hil!
All you guys worshipping Lieberman have no right to complain about RINOs anymore as long as their "pro-WOT". Compared to Liberman, a scumbag like Linc Chafee is conservative and a guy like McCain would be ultra-ultra-right-wing.
It's called cutting your losses. Either Lieberman will win or Lamant will win. Lieberman is wrong about just about everything, but he is good on national security. Lamont is wrong on everything, including especially national security.
