thats it im sick of it! when the hell is America going to wake up! I Mean come on what wont the left there power back?
if the American people dont do something about this everything in history will be gone
Apparently the pole is the problem, not the flag.
It could all be solved with two words...
Zoning variance.
Molon Labe
And NOW...after all these years..they are upset about our flag?
Disgusting. I got an idea for these people who are upset....Why don't you leave this country...That way our American flag won't bother you!
Maybe you would rather see a North Korean flag, or an Iranian flag? Go for it!
Thats Mendocino, there definitely are hippies in them woods. Theres a considerable number in Ukiah.
One of the leftier rural counties.
Far more frequently than I wish, I have similar feelings.
I used to know what that means. Please refresh my memory.
Any legal eagles here know if the city's action would violate the new "Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005" that Bush signed in July?
"Dave Hull and his neighbor Ric Piffero raised the giant 20-foot by 38-foot flag shortly after 9/11"
So this flag has been up for 5 years and now suddenly it's an issue? Looks to me like these loony lefties waited until they thought they could do this below the radar to bring it up. I would've like to have seen them try and have an American flag taken down a few years ago.
A simple solution would be for the owner to get an Amateur radio license, and put a small antenna (UHF 1/4 wave antenns would be about 4" long) on top of the mast. Then it would be a supporting structure for the antenna and authorized by the federal government under his station license. Prior court decisions have ruled the federal license trumps local ordinances.
Molon Labe == Means "Come and Get them" -- this is what the spartans told the persians at Thermopyle when they requested the spartans to surrender and the lives would be spared.
Of course the city council is populated by leftist morons. But again the story is incomplete. I'd like to know just what the ordinance would permit. Is it possible that a substantial flag could be flown that wouldn't violate existing law? Would it be possible for a compromise size? Has either or both of the parties suggested trying to reach a compromise? Was Dave Hull aware when he put the flag up that the pole violated an ordinance? If so, did he talk to the council before putting the flag up, and receive a no before doing it? Or did he put it up figuring that it is easier to ask forgiveness rather than permission?
It is a good bet that the leftist local government is against a flag of any size greater than a wash cloth. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to get the details here. But that is not the way news stories are written today.
Molon labe:
"Come and take them!"
Spoken to the Persians by King Leonidas of the badly outnumbered Spartan army when the Persians demanded that they surrender and lay down their arms. The Spartans then all fought to the death.
Call their bluff and force them to show their TRUE COLORS by lowering the flag to meet the city's building height ordinance.
Thank you for the link and I await your response to river rat's question.
