An internal Lebanese army statement, circulated among forces in the past week, has called for troops to stand "alongside your resistance and your people who astonished the world with its steadfastness and destroyed the prestige of the so-called invincible army after it was defeated". The circular has alarmed ministers in the Lebanese cabinet who had been calling for the army to disarm Hizbullah.
It will also fuel the concerns of Israel, the US and the UN security council that the Lebanese army is incapable of securing the south of the country, adding increased urgency to the calls for a multinational force to be swiftly deployed.
According to sources close to the army command, there has been a tacit agreement between Hizbullah and the army that those fighters who hail from the south will return to their villages and all arms will be put out of sight. Publicly displayed weapons will be seized but any further attempt to disarm the group has been ruled out for the time being.

I AM SHOCKED!/ sarcasm on
This is reported in the Guardian. Expect the editorial writers for the Guardian to read this and realize that the calls for a cease-fire were completely without merit, and call for Israel to be allowed to destroy the terrorist organization Hizbollah with all due prejudice.
And expect donkeys to fly while you're at it.
Lets hope we will continue to stand next to Israel. If we don't no one else will. it's bottom of the ninth, two out and a full count. Time to throw a perfect outside breaking ball. And a walk is not an option.
On MSNBC today, I saw the Hezzies handing out $16,000 payments to help those who lost their homes. The money appeared to be US 100 dollar bills.
The Iranians are fired up now. Whats with their tanks lining up on the Iraqui border.
UN approved Hezbo rope-a-dope.
Everybody get north of the river or south of Israel's northern border. Everybody. We then carpet bomb that new DMZ into moonscape. When the secondaries have all gone off and the rubble stops bouncing, we'll consider whether or not to rebuild. It's really the only way left.
GOod job Olmert! You trashed Israel's best defense: It's aura of invincibility.
Is that Green Helmet Guy without helmet in that picture? Isn't he the official dead child holder for Lebanon?
Israel must notify Lebanon and the world that unless Lebanon disarms the Hezzies, any Hezzie attacks will be regarded as an attack by the military and government of Lebanon, an act of aggression, of war, against Israel which will be met with an unlimited military response. Lebanon, or a controlling coalition within Lebanon, aparently wants to have it both ways. Can't let them play that game.
Israel can fight them too
Our A-10s need target practice? And the Viper pilots are getting rusty at tank plinking?
Damn!
Does this mean that those pesky Muslims lied to secure a ceasefire, again?
Is anyone surprised?
Is anyone really that stupid -- besides ex President Carter?
So --- The next time, will this scam work again?
How many times will the world try to kick the football held by Lucy?
Semper Fi
Putting their arms will be put out of sight is not good enough.

"Is that Green Helmet Guy without helmet in that picture?"
I thought the same thing. GHG really gets around.
We're cynical about them these days - but there's darn good reason to be cynical!
