Israeli reservists are returning from the war in Lebanon with unprecedented criticism toward their commanders: They say the army was poorly prepared, abandoned injured comrades and suffered from a dire lack of supplies. Developing...
Guess what!!! Israel has a liberal MSM as well.
YUK!
Poorly prepared I've heard and I can believe. Poorly supplied I've heard and I can believe. Leaving injured comrades behind? This is the first I've heard of this, and I don't believe it. If this happened even once, then it is by far the biggest of many crises the IDF now faces in the wake of the Lebanon debacle. I don't believe it, and I pray it's not true, but if proven this will be poison.
Western Media is the same everywhere, isn't it. While I dont doubt that there are some soldiers who feel this way, is this the Reality? I can find a US soldier who believes in the 911 conspiracies too..
I bet. It would be odd if the Israeli soldiers weren't ticked off.
under fire, maybe but temporarily. the other criticisms are being expressed in other venues too. it is hard to believe.
Mebbe so, mebbe no. Anyone who gets his after-action reports from a mainstream newspaper is leaning on a mighty thin reed.
With higher ups like this, who needs enemies?
However, I don't believe it goes farther than that and the other things mentioned in the article are cunningly-selected quotes from a few disgruntled dog faces who have the same agenda as the liberal Israeli media.

Well they haven't fought a real out and out war since 73 so in 33 years the military can go to pot to some extent
In democracies you have freedom of speech. The Israeli citizen soldiers are free to vent.
I also strongly suspect the criticisms are valid.
It's not BS. Several reservists have posted criticisms on the net and through (respectable) Israeli media already, many more criticisms will follow. This is the first internet war for Israel, and there seems to be entire platoons who are criticizing unneccesary deaths of comrades in the last 48 hours of the conflict.
Many of those in Lebanon went through 72 hours of frontline combat duty, lost many comrades, sustained large numbers of injuries, and were then told "oops, sorry, we're leaving, you all put your lives on the line for nothing" just that fast. That is the lasting memory of this conflict for them, no victory, no reasoning, no logic, just politicized warfare putting their lives on the line.
Battalion commanders learned of the ceasefire through the media, not their chain of command for G-d's sake. Over 10% of the Israeli soldiers killed were killed in water ration resupply drops. Serious problems throughout the entire campaign. Citizen soldiers always retain the right to criticize leadership when a conflict comes to a close. And so it will be.
