Animal extremist tried to bomb director's car ( ALF )
Times Online ^ | August 18, 2006 | Nicola Woolcock

AN EXTREMIST described as the Animal Liberation Front’s main bomber faces life in jail after admitting yesterday that he planted explosive devices outside the home of a company director.

Detectives are now linking Donald Currie to ten similar attacks under investigation in six police force areas.

Currie, 40, pleaded guilty at Reading Crown Court to arson and to possessing explosive substances with intent to endanger life and property.

A senior police source said that Currie was the Animal Liberation Front’s “main active bomber” and described his detention as “a significant blow to animal rights extremism”.

The unemployed psychiatric nurse was arrested days after the bombing incident in March, for which the ALF claimed responsibility on its website.

An improvised bomb made from weedkiller and sugar was left under a car at the house of Caroline Brooks, 45, sales and marketing director of the courier company PDP.

A second device was found in a nearby garden, where it appeared to have been discarded. Neither was detonated but both could have inflicted serious damage.

He loves animals so much he'll kill humans.

I gotta plan where he can feed some hungry worms in desparate need of a good meal.

Arrest them, try them, find them guilty and lock them to protect innocent people from harm or death.

Er, what about "torture them unmercifully until they fess-up who their accomplices are?"

If ALF is a terrorist orgainization, and this should serve to qualifiy it as one, why does it still have a web site? Why are it's officers still free? What the hell is wrong with the law enforcement oversight community that would allow bastards like these to roam free?

If they are claiming responsibility for terrorist attacks, they are as guilty as the perp.

Folks, this took place in the UK.

Not only will this filth not be executed, he probably only goes to gaol if Caroline Brooks is a Mohammedan.

You might go back and read that book again. :-)

When activists of any stripe demand rights for animals, rocks, or plants, what they are really doing is demanding disproportionate representation of their interests as self-appointed advocates. Unfortunately, to enforce a right requires the police power of government, because it is assumed to be a disinterested arbiter of competing claims.

History suggests the opposite, which is why limiting the number of enforceable rights is as important to securing liberty as is constituting them as such.

When government gains the power to confer rights to any constituency, it acquires the means to confer power upon itself as an enforcing agent. There is then no limit to the power to dilute the rights of citizens. Agency respect for the rights of citizens then exists not at all.
