A self-described peace activist responsible for the diversion of a London-to-Washington flight Wednesday acted bizarrely for hours, made references to al Qaeda and hijack training flights, and was restrained by two passengers after she urinated in the aisle.
Catherine C. Mayo, 59, a Vermont woman who also lives part time in Pakistan, was charged yesterday in federal court with interfering with a flight crew. United Flight 923 was forced to make an emergency landing at Boston's Logan International Airport under escort by two military jets.
"She's got some very serious mental health problems," said Page Kelley, Mrs. Mayo's attorney, who described her client as "just barely lucid."

Now that so much more is known about this woman's identity, I am sure it will be in every story about this incident. Didn't see this posted anywhere else.

See what happens when you don't wear the tin-foil hat. The evil Bush brain wave machine got her.

Urinating in public is very unusual and suggest a level of dis-inhibition that 'barley lucid' would sum up. Probably quite a seriously unwell lady.

One correction to your title: She's not a Brit moonbat; she's a homegrown (VT) moonbat.

"She's got some very serious mental health problems," said Page Kelley, Mrs. Mayo's attorney, who described her client as "just barely lucid."
She is supposedly so mentally sick yet she was able to get to an airport, buy a ticket, board the correct flight, successfully create a disturbance on the plane and identify herself as a "peace activist".
I say lock her up for 10 years. 12 if she gives any lip about it.

"She's got some very serious mental health problems," said Page Kelley, Mrs. Mayo's attorney, who described her client as "just barely lucid." Wouldn't that describe just about everyone supporting Islamofacism?

I don't mean to be gross, but can human urine be used to create explosive compounds? Somebody here on FR knows, I'm sure.

Describes a good chunk of the Left. If you ever feel like taking an amusing trip over to DU you can see how much they talk about their mental issues and medication. Figure they'd get a clue that there was a connection, sooner or later, but alas, denial is one of the major symptoms.

Well yes I would bu there is also such a thing as psychotic mental illness - I have nursed many such over the years. Let me tell you that it is very unusual for a woman to urinate in public like this - that level of dis-inhibition is waaaay beyond Islamic sympathies.

There may be more information missing as to why she relieved herself in the aisle.
Maybe she hysterically claimed she had to go to the lavatory and because of justified suspicions she wasn't allowed.
So...she says to herself, "okay, I'll show 'em".
...taking a pi$$ing contest with air marshalls to the limit! ;^)

You may well be right. I cannot know what the fact of the matter is or the state of this woman's mind. But this action is so odd - yet in keeping with certain illness' that a serious mental illness ought not to be ruled out. It is also very common for people experiencing psychotic breakdowns to be markedly but irrationally influenced by news events.

Those mental health problems run rampant through the peace activist community.
