I am not sure I would say that. I would say we got off track (IMHO in the 1930s). I have no doubt we can recover if we are willing to try. Plenty of our fellow citizens still are stuck in the 60s - too bad for them. I just remember the founding fathers had their trials too.

Just as an aside, when was the last time you heard of children in terms of decimal places?
[e.g. "1.3 children per..."]
Not in my America, thank God. At least not in about 20 years. Get in the sack, fellow citizens! We rule the world and so will generations of our descendants!

Actually a lot of points here are the same as those that caused such a furor when Pat Buchanan released his Death of the West book.

I was only able to have one child. So I've informed my son when he gets married that I want lots of grandchildren. Four or five would be wonderful. He's 22 and has almost 3.5 years before he's out of the Navy so I will have to wait a while longer.

In this world, if Jesus were alive today hed most likely be a gay Anglican vicar in a committed relationship driving around in an environmentally-friendly car with an Arms Are For Hugging sticker on the way to an interfaith dialogue with a Wiccan and a couple of Wahhabi imams. This is, without a doubt, the most concise and insightful statement about where we're going of any I've seen.
Steyn is brilliant (which is not a particularly unique observation)

It is rather sad ... but I hope you haven't forgotten what happened the last time Japanese became warriors!
I, for one, don't want to see World War II reenacted!
That being said, I wonder how people can face having children if you know their fate is likely to be grim. Having children is an inherently optimistic act. I certainly don't want to have kids and therefore consign them to a horrible fate. That seems, truly, like an awful thing to do to them.
Thoughts?

I'm a single-never-married pushing 40. Odds are long, but my best friend has five sons and a daughter on the way, so I figure, karma-wise, I'm going to be okay, particularly because he's fiercely Republican.
And SPOIL THOSE GRANDCHILDREN.

When Steyn really delves into the demographic time-bomb we face, it depresses the hell out of me.
How sad that this time, civilization got to the brink of space travel before it lapsed yet again into barbarism. Perhaps that's what I'll write about if I survive to my elder years.

"September 11th 2001 was not the day everything changed, but the day that revealed how much had already changed. On September 10th, how many journalists had the Council of American-Islamic Relations or the Canadian Islamic Congress or the Muslim Council of Britain in their rolodexes? If youd said that whether something does or does not cause offence to Muslims would be the early 21st centurys principal political dynamic in Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom, most folks would have thought you were crazy. Yet on that Tuesday morning the top of the iceberg bobbed up and toppled the Twin Towers."

Education is in the pits
Political correctness has more power than the constitution
The tyranny of the minority is working ... the system is afraid of law suits and the new judges that twist the law
to suit their agendas
The media is favorable to the Muslims or Palestinians and totally ignores what happened to Israel during the the last months and truly long before that.
The media is liberal and rarely reports violations of any kind that the democrats commit. While they pillory and ridicule conservatives and Christians in a denigrating manner in dozens of daily rhetoric.
Homosexual agendas
Abortion and planned parenthood poisons in our schools and society
Welfare (failed) programs ever expanding
Open immigration supported by our government and not enforcing our laws
Hospitals going deeply in the red under the onslaught of immigrant health care.
etc etc etc
We have a great life that is threatened on every side. We are watching while it is disintegrating the good life that is right under our feet.
The white races are in decline. We are the number one debtor nation in the world.
Black is white. Peace is War. (Orwells 1984)
We are having our History made into revisionist History.
May God help us before it is past the point of no return.

Dude, Ya gotta do your part. Here's RKV's short plan of action to change direction. 1) Pray. I mean it. Ask for help. Get right with the almighty. 2) Do what you can where you can. Don't let PC rule your life. Speak the truth to those who will listen. Some will not like that you do this. 3) Get your own life in order. Love your wife and children. Nuf said. 4) Learn to shoot if you don't know how. Own several guns, ammo and teach others to shoot. Maybe not full fledged survivalist gig, but have some resources. 5) Pay attention to what the politicians and judges are doing. Involve yourself where you can help. Read, write and VOTE. Remember that you have to pick the best candidate, not the perfect candidate.
That's for starters. Don't give up hope. Personally I've got kids, and that motivates me.

Whats the most laughable article published in a major American newspaper in the last decade? Amazing that he could pick among so much competition. But, yeah, anything by Paul Krugman has to rank pretty high on that list

I am the Christ and quite alive.
I'm a married heterosexual who lives in Kansas. We have a shale green 2001 PT Crusier with no bumper stickers or magnetic support ribbons (they affected the wax job)
I do see it as important to dialog with as many peoples as possible. The internet is an amazing force combined with the Holy Spirit to move all peoples to the affection of Divine truth.
Blessings,

Mark sums up the general trends but I don't know if western civ is going over Niagara Falls quite yet. One bright future scenario might be that the US or Israel will bomb the shit out of Iran -- cutting off the nuclear threat and cutting off the head of the Islamic Hydra in its own cave. Islamofacism won't have a head or feet to stand on. As well, the west has come through the ordeal of Communism where dire predictions were around throughout most of the cold war -- and we won eventually that war. But, generally, times have to get worse before they get better -- so maybe we haven't seen the worst just yet.
The greatest threat to the west is our lack of will or conviction and Islam may push to the point where we will find it again. For that we should thank them for waking us up.
Incidentally, "Eurabia" may have been coined on this site. Maybe Mark is with us even now.

Dave,
Did you encounter any turbulence on your ride down on the clouds? I live in MO and travel KS quite often. I had no idea Mt. Zion was there.

I take planes -- I can't fly. The Holy Spirit was protecting those 10 airliners last Thursday, the 10th. Quite a few eyes were looking up to the clouds.
Last night we saw a terrific thunderhead at sunset that produced storms overnight. Kansas is quite well known for its clouds.
There's a Mt Zion in Utah where good friends run a bed and breakfast. Perhaps we should visit in the off season. Here's an explanation of what Mt Zion actually means: ( Apocalypse Explained (Whitehead) n. 850 ). "And behold a Lamb standing on the Mount Zion, signifies the presence of the Lord in heaven and in the church for separating the good from the evil and for executing judgment.". This poses an interesting question because I use a wheelchair. Has to be symbolic... in a sense.

Add Charles Krauthammer and I think you have a great threesome.

"As a father of four beautiful kids, I sometimes wonder what kind of world they're going to live in when they become adults. I guess I should start inuring the boys to military life now, eh?"
The greatest gift you could ever give your four little ones is to convince them early on that serving their country before embarking on their life's work is building a fabulous foundation for their own success and character. The Israeli's have it right with their required two years service for both sexes.

You have got to be kidding? Those BP adds have a bunch of morons on the street talking about what the next generation of energy needs to be? I don't know what your business is, but mine is energy. Why don't they do moron on the street ads for how to do brain surgery?
