It is rather sad ... but I hope you haven't forgotten what happened the last time Japanese became warriors!
I, for one, don't want to see World War II reenacted!
That being said, I wonder how people can face having children if you know their fate is likely to be grim. Having children is an inherently optimistic act. I certainly don't want to have kids and therefore consign them to a horrible fate. That seems, truly, like an awful thing to do to them.

I'm an optimist. I've read the Bible. I know how it all comes out in the end. I will try to raise my kids to be exemplary Catholics and strong moral people. In the world of the future, folks like that will be needed more than ever.
