A fire ripped through an Islamic center early Thursday morning, causing $2 million in damages before it was put out, officials said.
The three-alarm fire at the Kurdish Community Islamic Center was reported just after 2 a.m. and burned for more than an hour before firefighters from 15 different crews extinguished it, said Monica Zech, a spokeswoman for the El Cajon Fire Department.
"When they got here, there was heavy smoke coming from the building and then the fire broke through the roof and flames were shooting through the roof," Zech said. "It's pretty much a total loss."
The cause of the fire in this east San Diego suburb was unknown. Investigators were unable to search for clues inside the building because it was unstable, Zech said. Instead, they used fire truck ladders to get an aerial view of the inside of the 800,000-square-foot community center, she said.
Arson investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the FBI were on the scene.
The FBI would become involved if it was determined that the fire was a hate crime, Zech said.
Members of the community center arrived early Thursday for morning prayer, only to find the center in ashes. Zech said the center's owner was out of town.
Probably about as many as the parishioners of this church, for all you know.

It all revolves around what you think of islam. I don't believe it to be a religion, I believe it to be a death cult. muslims have sworn to be our enemy. Six years ago I knew nothing of islam or muslims or moslems or mohammedians, or who the heck mohammed was. Now I know all too well. I have no problem with Amish, or Hindu, or Shinto, or Buddist, or Catholic... etc. But, as far as I know, none of those religions have books that are a combined politcal system/religion that outlines how to overwhelm and kill non believers. Everyone agrees... muslims, politicians, police forces, intelligence people, everyone... that there are terrorist cells here in the US waiting to act, and those cells are... *gasp* muslim.
If muslims feel unwelcome in the US, I have no problem with that.
Jeez, how many football stadiums would fit inside that place?

The distinction I am drawing is between Islamic "regulars" and Islamic "fundies." I'm not a big fan of either at the moment, but I will not condone, welcome, or accept (possible) arson. That would make me a "fundie" of a different religious persuasion.

With regard to your #104, I don't even understand you. I'm not sure you understand yourself (or mathematics, for that matter).
I have a Muslim friend. She would put most Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. to shame with her kindness. She is very smart and loves her god with all her heart. Explain to me why we would want Muslims like her to feel unwelcome in the US.

Under the theory of "new" moral mathematics, she should not feel welcome because there are terrorists that share some undetermined portion of her faith, with (possible) arson being the vehicle to express our displeasure with the terrorists, but only if no injuries result.

What I can read, what I see tells me islam is evil, pure evil. I also know islam has a LOT of "fundies". What is even more disturbing is that the "regulars" seem to give quiet approval to the fundies. There is no backlash.
The death cult has 1.5 billon members, can all 1.5 billion be evil? Not possible. There are good muslims, some are better people than I'll ever be. HOWEVER, the cult has teachings that would take a good person and make them evil, (all the while believing they're doing Allah's will).
This is a complex issue. Can I cheer arson? I hate to see it come to that too. But, our government won't secure our borders. Everywhere islam shows up, they want sharia law, heck there's quote from the leader of CAIR that they're here to be the dominant religion, the ONLY religion.

I am reminded of that scene from the movie Mr. Roberts where the Dr. is summoned to the captain's quarters "on the double" after he goes apolectic on discovering that Mr. Roberts threw his precious palm tree overboard. The Dr. takes his sweet time getting up there. Very funny. The sailors are disappointed when the Dr. says the stretcher won't be needed.
