(CBS4) BOSTON Criminal charges could be filed Thursday against a Vermont woman who caused a disturbance aboard a London-to-Virginia jet that was diverted to Logan Airport.
59-year-old Catherine Mayo is being held by federal authorities in Boston.
Investigators say she was a claustrophobic passenger who became upset and interfered with the flight crew on United Airlines flight 923 Wednesday morning. The pilot declared an in-flight emergency and landed the plane at Logan. The Boeing 767 was escorted by two F-15 jets based out of Otis Air National Guard Base on Cape Cod.
Passengers say Mayo paced the aisles and peppered her incoherent mutterings with the word "Pakistan." They said two plainclothes men on board and flight attendants tackled the woman. She was handcuffed while the flight was diverted.
After a day filled with conflicting reports about what she was carrying, an FBI spokeswoman confirmed Mayo had a screwdriver, lighters and matches when she was subdued...

don't mind me. just bumping to keep track of this thread.
confiscated your matches...
how did they know that you had matches.
Were they in a shirt or trouser pocket, would you not have gotten them through?
So...did she marry the guy? LOL
That particular "shining example" should have certified her for the loony bin. They must have good drugs in Paki.
I don't think it wasn't a typical meltdown. She was up to no good. I think she just lost it and totally freaked out when passengers became suspicious of her trips to the restroom. For all we know that could have been a "crazy" act. I still believe there may have been 1 or 2 others on board who were in on it. The pilot diverted and radioed an emergency. I have the feeling more will be coming out. She was carrying 2 of the ingredients named in last week's plot -- matches and a gel-like substance. Who had the other ingredient? Call me paranoid....
They hand search my carry on and found them that way.
I also was padded down and thus they would have found them on my person if I would have had them on me.
I guess Germany Airport security took the threats more serious then the Brits.
I just knew this story had "legs". ;-)
I'll bet she's a familiar name to The Smirking Chimp, et al., and hence to their friends in the mainstream media.
Will the MSM tell the world she's a Leftist moonbat? Not holding my breath.
I want to thank freeperfromnj for finding the original article to post.
Have to leave the thread now, but look forward to finding out more when I get back.
And, may I guess, married to or engaged to a Paki?
Like the book says - Liberalism is a Mental Illness.
So, the question appears to be, was she part of a mission (with others on board) and freaked out - couldn't pull it off - got an attack of Judeo-Christian decency at the last moment - or was she just a typical raving left-wing Islamic sympathizer (or both)?

No, I think you make some good points.
"....He is talking about marriage, so I need to get to know him better before I bring him into the US on a fiancé visa. He was refused a visitor visa to the US, so I have come here."
"She's a junior jihadi wannabe, trying to impress her man!"
She was, apparently, in the U.S. on 9-11. So, can you imagine afterwards traveling to Pakistan to meet someone who had been denied a visitor visa? No, she may be a relative newcomer as an active "jihadi" but I suspect the roots were there all along. One thing is certain, at 59 she isn't a "junior" anything, LOL, she is merely desperate fool.
I can't believe she got paid to write that stuff. Also she seems to use British spellings, not "American" English. Wonder how she financed her extensive travels.
I feel sorry for her children.
Yes, I'd say bipolar is a fit. But not bipolar alone. Everyone has the propensity to work himself/herself into a state. The trick is to know when you're doing that to yourself...she didn't see it, IMHO. This was no act. She dropped her basket.
That would be my answer. Stay tuned...
Obviously not that much of a "catch" for an American man, if she's willing to fly to Pakistan and hole up there to meet a guy she met on the internet who "wants to marry her" (and just happens to be trying to get a U.S. visa)...
A desperate aging moonbat (but apparently not a lesbian).
All the Pakistanis we see every day and this guy was refused visa? This woman is a desperate idiot. There is such a thing as a fiance visa - did not ever realize that.
