HURRAY FOR HOLLYWOOD:

NICOLE Kidman has made a public stand against terrorism.

The actress, joined by 84 other high-profile Hollywood stars, directors, studio bosses and media moguls, has taken out a powerfully-worded full page advertisement in today's Los Angeles Times newspaper.

It specifically targets "terrorist organisations" such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine.

"We the undersigned are pained and devastated by the civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon caused by terrorist actions initiated by terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas," the ad reads.

"If we do not succeed in stopping terrorism around the world, chaos will rule and innocent people will continue to die.

"We need to support democratic societies and stop terrorism at all costs."

Indeed. (Thanks to Jules Crittenden for the link).

Yeah, like you I'm surprised to hear good sense coming out of Hollywood. Who would have expected that?

Good to see some organized group in the media (even if it is the entertainment wing) DENOUNCE Hezbollah and Hamas.

Especially in light of the word that Al Qaeda plans to follow their lead and start a "political" organization.

"The actors listed included: Michael Douglas, Dennis Hopper, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Danny De Vito, Don Johnson, James Woods, Kelly Preston, Patricia Heaton and William Hurt.

Directors Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Michael Mann, Dick Donner and Sam Raimi also signed their names.

Other Hollywood powerplayers supporting the ad included Sumner Redstone, the chairman and majority owner of Paramount Pictures, and billionaire mogul, Haim Saban.

Hm, missing a few. Larry Miller, Dennis Miller, Drew Carey... But, an impressive bunch, with some surprises plus some names I'd expect: Heaton, Willis, Johnson, and especially James Woods, who personally witnessed a dry run for 9/11.

Imagine that, a great act completely cancelled by their support of the dim party.

I guess Film Actors Guild doesn't back this petition.

Dennis Hopper is also reportedly a Republican these days.

Tomorrow they'll all wake up and claim that they all signed the ad while drunk and are not responsible for any of their actions while under the influence.

Maybe the "beautiful people" out there in Hollywood are starting to realize that we absolutely have to defeat the terrorists. I hope so.

Where is Michael Moore's John Henry? Rooting for those minutemen freedom fighters in Iraq is taking up too much of his time. Who would have thought!

Knew some of the above were Repubs but not all. ..interesting. Wonder how many of this group donated to Clinton. ..or Hillary. . .OR Algore/Kerry. . .or still vote Demrat (not getting that the Demrat Party has a new face. . .and is on the 'other' side of the terrorist problem. . )

That posed. . .refreshing to see what appears to be a bit of a 'groundswell'for REASON in Hollywood. . .

Link, please. We stumbled on this thread because we didn't see anything in the sidebar.

I don't see it searching for "Hollywood" titles.
