I can't wait to see the protests of the illegals here in the US, citing that we have violated his rights.

"They have no jurisdiction in the ocean" said the judge when he freed them.

I would not doubt it.

Seems like it would have been cheaper to have "lost" him at sea.

I'm guessing that one of the already captured gang members played a roll in the tip off to the feds.

Javier's face looks like someone from a cartoon. Those cool triangular eyebrows and mouth. The spiked hair.

Excellent work, DEA.

Arellano, who was deported shortly after illegally crossing into the United States in 1997, is president of United Latino Family, which lobbies for families that could be split by deportation.

Which makes her being in the US guilty of a felony according to current law.

As always the the Elliot Ness syndrome will kick in. If you ever watched the Untouchables you saw that every time Elliot and his men busted up a gang of mobsters running an illegal booze operation, there would be a new group coming in to take their place. There was never a final episode where they caught the last of the mobsters, because there was a never ending stream of people willing and able to take up the slack for the last guys who got popped. Whoever steps in for this current crop is likely to be as mean and nasty or worse than the Arellano-Felix bunch. Hundreds of tons of cocaine and thousands of tons of marijuana will still come over the border with Mexico every year, and those drugs will be as plentiful and cheap as ever in this country.

“We've taken the head off the snake,” said Michael Braun, chief of operations for the Drug Enforcement Administration, during a news conference in Washington.
But they said the arrests will not stem for long the flow of drugs through Tijuana and San Diego on their way to an insatiable U.S. market.

At least they admit that the arrest will no effect on the drug market. So why do we keep fighting this war if even 'taking the head off the snake'...'will not stem the flow of drugs'??

Actually, I beg to differ with you. Capturing the kingpin means that alternate routes for "sales and delivery" will be occurring. "Holders" will seek to offload "merchandise" rapidly. A newer "master" will arrive on the scene to seize control of the black market. Immediate effects (of the capture) will be an increase in market sales. Will the capture ultimately negatively effect the drug-market? Yes, I think so.

That's the nature of the everlasting battle between Good and Evil.

Our duty is to fight the fight as best we can to keep evil at bay.

If we don't...................remember Hitler? Remember how close that fight was?

It isn't a given that we will always have the upper hand, as we do now. We only have to look back 40 or 50 years to see how we've let things slide. We owe it to our children and grandchildren to at least hold the line. Otherwise, they could grow up in a hell we can't imagine.
