"..and her husband Sam Studebaker, were each charged with domestic violence.."

'Domestic violence', 'distracted driving', charges are getting wondrfully vague niwadays.

There has to have been more to this, Montgomery County is heavy Dem. The burbs may be GOP but the county went for the Dems in the last election.

"Democratic congressional candidate Stephanie Studebaker is removing her name from the ballot."

Do Democrats get to remove their names fromn ballots while Republicans (Tom Delay) can't?

That would seem the case.
Remember New Jersey when Bob (the torch) Torcelli was loosing badly in the polls, against state election laws, but condoned by the DRats on the NJ state courts, Torcelli was replaced by the retired cadaver.. Lautenberg.

Distracted driving is a creative way to enhance the extortion abilities of fundraising for each town.

Probably my libertarian streak coming out but:

- What is "domestic violence." What is the threshold between having a spat and domestic violence? Pretty vague charge.

- Wonder if the police had a warrant to come onto private property? Unless the couple were out on the front lawn brawling, what would be the probable cause? Can a wife not throw ashtrays at her husband in the privacy of their home anymore?

I bet there is more to this story. And, if the candidate were a Republican, we would all know it by now.

A. The admission that or
B. residual physical damage to another person within the domicile indicating that, a battery or aggravated battery has taken place.

>Wonder if the police had a warrant to come onto private property? Unless the couple were out on the front lawn brawling, what would be the probable cause? Can a wife not throw ashtrays at her husband in the privacy of their home anymore?

No Probable Cause problem here. No warrant needed to respond to a 911 call, call from a neighbor, sounds or sight of a battery taking place.

Good point. I've known 2 men arrested for 'DV' for breaking their own possessions (throwing things against the wall/floor, not at the women, swearing and yelling in a fit of rage over a wife / girlfriend guilty of irresponsible behavior from detrimental fiscal irresponsibility (Ccards) and/or cheating, deceit, and lying.

The cops and the courts automatically determined there was no reason for the men to get mad and rulings followed such.

Nowadays with our PC courts, schools, gov folks, getting mad is not an option when another human being has blatantly done another wrong.

Obviously so - since I don't remember the Capitol Police arresting Shillary for domestic violence.

Oh wait - she was throwing lamps, not ashtrays.

And it seems strange to me that BOTH get charged with domestic violence for a fight INSIDE their own home.

Weird.

The underlying purpose in cases such as this is to prevent harm. There are few situations in which LEOs can prevent a battery or even homicide, rather than just write reports after the crime occurs. This is one of those rare cases.

If either party is so out of control they are breaking their own valuables, it's a short jump to breaking the other person's valuables... or even breaking the other person.

The death penalty is not a legitimate punishment for too much charged on the family credit card. (On the other hand, ask me about this when the wife's AMEX bill comes in every month!)
