A Day in the Life of President Bush - (photos) - 8.15.06

Today President Bush traveled to the National Counterterrorism Center in McLean, Virginia to attend a briefing. Following the briefing, the President made a statement to the press, crediting the agency for its part in foiling the terror plot in England last week.

FR's Finest has done a thread on "Twins" and there's a great photo collage of the President's and First Lady's lovely daughters right HERE . (Thanks to Dolly for the link!)

Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose!!

I would recommend photo explosion which if you look around you can pick up quite cheap on either Amazon or Ebay. Dolly uses Microsoft Picture It but my computer does not like that program.

Both of those programs will do what you want and you can save the working file as a template so you can edit nd move photos later on.

Picture It from MicroSoft (sorry for cussin'here) is what I use. I have photoshop (the pro version) but it is a very complex program & I have found PI much easier to use. It is NOT an expensive program either.

You can save your pix so you can move things around & adding words ,moving things, resizing is very easy. I save each collage in PNG (the picture it, alterable file) as well as JPG which is smaller & used for posting to server

Because the following two articles are so good, I decided to post them again in case you missed them the first time (originally posted last evening).

MUST READ:

The following commentary is a 'MUST READ, MUST SAVE, MUST PRINT, MUST REFERENCE REGULARLY FOR ONE'S OWN INTELLECTUAL/HISTORICAL/POLITICAL EDIFICATION' masterpiece from the incomparable Norman Podhoretz!

IS THE BUSH DOCTRINE DEAD?
Norman Podhoretz

. . . It is my contention that the Bush Doctrine is no more dead today than the Truman Doctrine was cowardly in its own early career. Bolstered by that analogy, I feel safe in predicting that, like the Truman Doctrine in 1952, the Bush Doctrine will prove irreversible by the time its author leaves the White House in 2008. And encouraged by the precedent of Ronald Reagan, I feel almost as confident in predicting that, three or four decades into the future, and after the inevitable missteps and reversals, there will come a President who, like Reagan in relation to Truman in World War III, will bring World War IV to a victorious end by building on the noble doctrine that George W. Bush promulgated when that war first began.

You can read the entire (very lengthy) commentary at

THE VIEW FROM THE TOP
A former Bush adviser on 9/11, Iraq and the lessons of five tumultuous years—for the president and the public.

By Michael Gerson [Yes, THAT Michael Gerson!]
Newsweek

Aug. 21-28, 2006 issue - Five Washington Augusts ago, for me, is not just a different time; it is a distant country. At the White House, we debated the nuances of stem-cell research. The president delivered a speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars without the need to mention any foreign wars. Americans obsessed on the mysterious affair of Chandra Levy. A spate of shark attacks was headline news.

Everything we saw took us further from the reality we could not see. Five Augusts ago, hijackers in Florida trained in gyms, bought small knives and practiced flying in rented aircraft. In Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden and Taliban leaders argued about targets and strategy, until bin Laden gave his final orders. Nineteen tickets were booked and purchased, and leftover funds were wired frugally back to Al Qaeda. "And then," as President Bush said, "there came a day of fire."

He gets criticized if he does, and criticized if he doesn't.

At least when he talks to them a few people actually get to see him.

Otherwise the media would completely hide his very existence from the American people.

They stink......

The lack of pictures was helpful for me tonight since I had to drag them all directly from Yahoo, and couldn't sort them as I usually do.

I THINK I got them all.... :)

You are SO right, Dolly. Where would we be without him and his strength??

I shudder to think of what would be happening now if we had had algor or kerry in office.

A whole lot more Americans might well be dead.....

Thanks for posting that, Dr. S.

I saw that the VP was campaigning, but with my photoserver woes, it was all I could do to post the ones of the President.

I can't imagine doing any of it! Wonderful job.

Did you go to the Twins day? I always thought it would be fun to go, but without twins I never got around to it.
