President Bush Live from the State Department
Oh you aren't teetering anymore, you've crossed the line.
> I wish someone would explain to our President that Hezbollah is an elected party. Their power is a result of "democracy" in Lebannon.
Yes, I've been thinking a lot about this in the last year or so. The voice of the people in the Middle East right now is for Islamic fundamentalists, and these tend to be our most deadly enemies. So when we foster ME democracies, who then are we serving? Probably not ourselves. Then why exactly are we spending all this money and blood?
The president sure is not making this very clear, given the events and trends in the last several years, how our strategy ultimately works. Is it good cop/bad cop with Condi as the "good" cop? I don't agree with what Condi is up to, but if she's the administration's representative, they should be supporting her more than they are.
Someone remind me of the last time the press was correct about geopolitical affairs. I personally can't remember a time.
Why are you replying to me, DUmba$$?
"I still don't understand who this cease fire is with. We don't deal with terrorists. So who is this with? Lebanon was never in the war? Correct me if I am wrong..."----Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese government.
Don't understand what the point of what this speech was. He should be talking about how he is going to make sure the Hezbollah will be disarmed under this resolution. That is what he needs to do.
So the President did say that hezzbollah won?
Is he mad at Israel? Condi for working on the resolution? What's going on?
Arggh, missed it! Did the President compare Hezzbollah in Lebanon today with the Taliban in Afghanistan prior to 9/11? Been waiting for someone to do that. The comparison seems rather obvious to me and making it might help counter MSM bias.
That's the beauty of it.
It *looks* like a John Kerry plan.
IMO, it's just intermission.
President "we don't advise Israel on its military options"
really?
WOW.....
so re-arming the Hezzies is helpful for Israel?
the PC in this world is our poison...
Not to confuse you with facts or anything, but no one is saying if we give the terrorists freedom that they'll quit being terrorists.
I'm right there with you....Israel wasn't at war with Lebanon, they were at war with Hizbollah. I thought we/they didn't negotiate with terrorists?
Harry Truman couldn't be president today. Dropping a Hiroshima sized mushroom cloud on Damascus, Baghdad, and Tehran would zip their lips. Bush would be impeached if he even tried to do that.
Don't pay attention to the bashers and hysterics.
I see this as no different than when Bush gave an ultimatum to Afghanistan and to Iraq before attacking them. I also see the same sort of arm chair generals with their fists pounding remote controls imagining they are sending nuclear missiles.
If one cannot see that Bush is applying the same formula to this situation by proxy that he has to the Iraq and Afghanistan, then that person is not really watching.
Bush says the world should could credit to Rice for getting a resolution.
And just how many in your synagogue voted for Bush anyway? 3 out of 100??? And now you act as if you have some relevance?
That's what our president is saying. He's saying the best and only way to win this war on terrorism is to spread democracy to these states.
What's going on here are a lot of freepers seem to be on this thread who are either: a) ignorant; or b) deliberately misrepresenting the president's words and policies.
I don't for one minute believe that WE asked Israel to stop. We gave them to go and THEY backed down. We had to do clean up to get the best cease fire deal we could after that.
