Netanyahu: There will be another round in this war
Jerusalem Post ^ | 8/14/6 | JPost.com staff

Posted on 08/14/2006 8:11:06 AM PDT by SmithL

Opposition leader MK Binyamin Netanyahu (Likud) told the Knesset that "unfortunately, there will be another round [in this war] because the government's just demands weren't met" by the cease-fire agreement that went into effect Monday morning.

"The [kidnapped] soldiers weren't returned home, the Hizbullah was not disarmed … Right now, we are [merely] in an interim period between wars," Netanyahu warned. "And there is no one who will prevent our enemies from rearmed and preparing for the next round."

I'll welcome you to FreeRepublic and warn you right now to be careful whom you criticize around here.

I will leave it at that. Just watch the threads a bit and see how folks that criticize anything Bush/GOP are treated. Even if the folks doing the critiques are/were ardent Bush/GOP supporters.

PC speak isn't only a Democrat/Liberal ideology it seems.

< grinning > You might even be treated to some of what I am talking about directed this direction, based purely on this post, if you watch closely.

Again welcome.

FR is not a place for the timid! LOL

"I think they must have been surpirsed by the extensiveness and depth of the Hezbollah defenses and armaments."

Considering their defenses were innocent civilians who hizzzzbullah HOPED would die thus garnering world support, the armaments used (next to apartments, houses etc.) wouldn't have lasted a week.

If the Israelis didn't care about civilian deaths, hizzzzzzbullah would have been wiped off the map within a week. IMHO

The really unreal strategy of waiting until the announcement of the coming ceasefire before beginning the ground offensive could not help but affect the morale of those troops who were shoved across the border in the knowledge that the objectives of the war would not and could not be accomplished.

Let's see...you want new blood as leadership in Israel to be creative about new agreements.

The history of all agreements has been for the Hezzies to breach the agreement, even when Israel withdraws from Lebanon and Gaza.

If the Hezzies will never follow an agreement, what makes you think a new agreement will be followed any more than the last?

The only way that would happen, is if the agreement included a term to allow the Hezzies to drive the Israelis back into the sea. Since I assume you do not want this, I think it is a reasonable step to take to elect an individual who will recognize that agreements are worthless, except for interbellum opportunities for rearmament by the hezzies.

How many more agreements must be broken before settlement by agreements must be abandoned?

It would be preferable to get new blood in charge of the hezzies and Iran and Syria, since they are the ones who support the abduction of Israeli soldiers who had not crossed the border.

Justice is black and white and it must be pursued regardless of what the label may be.

Unfortunately, it then becomes necessary to define "justice".

Further, unfortunately, in dealing with islam and their supporters, we must factor in the reality that they are the only culture where they can claim that black is "white", with a straight face.

That muddies further agreement, somewhat.

I guess that would have made you a troll at some point, right?

Not exactly. Most of us had the manners and the good graces, when entering a crowded room, to pause and listen a bit before peeing in the punchbowl...

The one and only positive thing that I see potentially coming from the last few weeks of conflict is the realization in Israel that they cannot negotiate or deal with the Pallies or with Hezbollah/Syria/Iran - because they want only to destroy Israel and murder its citizens - and that therefore those who argue in favor of doing such things must be removed from office.

This temporary truce - because it is not in any way a settlement or a long-term solution to ANY problem - will give Israelis a chance to reassess their most recent election results, and to toss out the weak, vision-less, appeasing, self-hating Jews who have come to power there.

Bibi has his own problems, but I am quite certain that faced with a crisis like this one, he'd have made a full effort from the start to destroy Hezbollah, not a half-assed attempt to do so 4 weeks later while there was a truce coming a few days later. Also, under Netanyahu Syria might now be a smoking ruin, which would have helped to give Israel a few years of being left alone.

I didn't want to be the first to specifically say so, but the tone with the join date seemed to suggest what you say. Also, given he/she didn't start this but joined in, there might be the agent provocateur angle: someone here not to start arguments but to embroil and confuse them.

Thanks.

I wish it were so, but this doesn't sound good:

IDF preparing to release reserves soldiers

The IDF is preparing to release by this weekend some of the reserves soldiers called up in recent weeks. Additional reserves soldiers will be released from duty next week.

Northern Command's chief of staff, Brig. Gen. Alon Friedman said that "Reserves forces will be released in the first phase, and soldiers in compulsory service will remain until the end of IDF missions." (Hanan Greenberg)

I am an ardent Bush/GOP supporter.
I have been a relentless and merciless critic of Bush and the GOP on matters of spending, immigration and islam.

I have never received even a hint of reproach or warnings from the owner and admins of the site which is what counts.

Other members of the forum? They are just as free to voice their criticisms and opinions, stupid and ignorant though they may be, as you are.

Labour enjoys more support than Likud today and Kadima enjoys more support than the both of them combined today.,/i>

Today? LOL.

If elections were held today, Kadima would deservedly cease to exist in any meaningful form.

That exchange is precious and classic.
Unfortunately, without a date and location for this interview, it must be viewed as apocryphal.
I seriously wish it is genuine, as I would love to save it for future use.

I hope the "rethinking" Israelis will decide to win the war rather than engage in PC skirmishes with the terrorists.

I too have never received any reproach or admonition's from Mr. Robinson or the staff for what I post. And I don't post very often, especially in the latter 5 or 6 years. I too, after voting twice and contributing money both times, have been critical of our President and have plenty of ad hominem and vitriol passed my way. Perhaps it has been just a matter of "luck". But thanks for you measured comments.
