Opposition leader MK Binyamin Netanyahu (Likud) told the Knesset that "unfortunately, there will be another round [in this war] because the government's just demands weren't met" by the cease-fire agreement that went into effect Monday morning.
"The [kidnapped] soldiers weren't returned home, the Hizbullah was not disarmed
Right now, we are [merely] in an interim period between wars," Netanyahu warned. "And there is no one who will prevent our enemies from rearmed and preparing for the next round."
The headline "ISRAELIS VIOLATE TRUCE AGREEMENT" I'm sure has already been preprinted for release by the Times (London, New York, Los Angeles).
Interesting way to introduce yourself. Perhaps reading for a day or two might soften your tone, yes?
If this were the start of a thread I expect I could safely type..
IBTZ.
I'm a big fan of Netanyahu too!
"He represents the ailing far rightest in Israel who are still holding onto this idea of 'eretz Israel' while the majority of Israeli society is leaning with the more moderate camp in Israel established by Sharon."
Well, I think the little experiment in Gaza and Hezbollah's activities as of late in Lebanon have changed some of the majority's thinking.
Everyone KNEW, going into this farse from the U.N., that it would just basically allow the Hezzies to REARM FROM IRAN before it starts all over again. Netanyahu is right and it takes no genius to figure it out, especially after watching the same cast of characters do this same crap over and over, during the past 40 years.
This cease fire earily reminds me of 2001 in Afghanistan when the Northern armies called for a "ceasefire" and that's when Bin Laden escaped! I'm all for full speed ahead and fire the bombs at the sources: Syria and Iran - they're the ones sending in the firearms and weaponry in the first place! YOu have to cut off the snake's head and there's a 2 headed monster in THIS fight!
bttt
Agreed. I wonder if "we" will be prepared to do what we must eventual do? And if so, if we will take the opportunity to do it in consort with Israel? Your thoughts?
THUD ping
Their original demand was to return the kidnapped soldiers and they didn't even get that. What a joke! This war is not over. It's just a temporary cease fire!!
Buh-bye!
We will never "win" the WOT, IMHO, unless we do so.
Better now than later, again IMHO.
" == How quick everyone forgets why he was booted out of power in the first place and the massive fiasco he created in his little stit as PM. The Israeli people didn't boot him out so quickly in a landslide defeat for no reason. == "
That happened to Churchill, as well. Then, it revealed more about the false hope of the pacifists than it did about Churchill. Israel has always been tainted by this european socialist/pacifist trait that, combined with the arab-israeli vote, often prevails over common sense.
Bibi has a long way to go to join Churchill in the Pantheon, but he has taken several steps along that path recently.
Received this email today.
Here is an interview from British media with Bibi Netanyahu.
The interviewer asked him: "How come so many more Lebanese have been killed in this conflict than Israelis?"
Natanyahu: "Are you sure that you want to start asking in that direction?"
Interviewer: Why not?
Natanyahu: "Because in World War II more Germans were killed than British and Americans combined, but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that the war was caused by Germany's aggression. And in response to the German blitz on London, the British wiped out the entire city of Dresden, burning to death more German civilians than the number of people
killed in Hiroshima.
Moreover, I could remind you that in 1944, when the R.A.F. tried to bomb the Gestapo Headquarters in Copenhagen, some of the bombs missed their target and fell on a Danish children's hospital, killing 83 little children .
Perhaps you have another question?"
