Wanted to share with people my thoughts of the movie WORLD TRADE CENTER. A extremely excellent film and one that should be considered for best picture. It has everyting in it - humor, drama, suspense, love, commitment, heroism, faithfulness.
There is one scene in the movie that - to me - is the most important scene of the entire movie. When the businessman who returns to being a Marine is watching the events unfold on television, he tells his co-workers before he leaves "I don't know if you people realize it, but this nation is at war!" I hope that those who watch this movie, see that scene, hear and see what happened in England last week, and seeing Israel fight the past 30 days, make the connection. Maybe it is wishful thinking, but the past week, while watching FNC, I am beginning to see that more and more people are beginning to label the enemy - Islam!
Did anyone else watch the movie this weekend?
I'd rather waste time.
I haven't seen it yet, but thanks for the review. It's getting a lot of good ones. I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD.

We watched part of the WTC special on the History channel. I didn't change our resolve.

from reading the comments on this and similar threads this weekend, i'm surprised many freepers aren't aware that several prominent conservatives - Cal Thomas of Townhall.com comes to mind - previewed the movie last month and found no leftist bend to it. He also remarked how surprised he was that Oliver Stone would make such a movie (but that's one of the reasons conservatives previewed it... remember all that there was a time when conservative Points of View wouldn't even be let anywhere NEAR a major production!).
In any case, my point is, for readers here are dismissing the movie out-of-hand (as I and many did with Fatboy's fahrenheit 911 tripe), the thing has "been vetted" of sorts by columnists we trust.
In that case, then I don't know. Let me just say there were no openly homosexual characters.
I did read here on FR that Cal Thomas and others previewed the film and gave it a thumbs up. The main reason I saw the film. What is also surprising about the film is the numerous religious references in it.
There is a scene near the end where the Marine states that vengence is coming - from the U.S. Also, anothe scene where a police officer from Wisconsion is seeing it on televsion and calls them bastards. The movie does not identify one way or the other who did it. I do not know if it should. Anyone with a lick of sense should know who did this. I guess if there was one subliminal message is when they are showing news accoutns throughout the world and everyone is crying and saddened - even in the mid-East! During that scene, I wanted Stone to show that Palestinian woman in joyous rapture issuing her little chirping sound. But he did not. I hope this helps.
To actually answer your question, it has not changed my resolve, especially after this past week and month. We have to eradicate this scourge from the earth!
Drudge, who has hated most movies he's seen in the past five years, was highly complimentary of this movie on his show last night.
My wife and I saw the movie yesterday (Sunday). Great movie ... very gripping. I'll echo the sentiments of others who saw World Trade Center ... it was PC to the extent that it never names the terrorists, except referring to them as bastards a couple of times. In the part of the movie that shows the reaction of people around the world as they learn of the news, they reflect concern & sadness ... they don't show any Muslims, and their sympathizers laughing and high fiving as many did ... even here in the U.S. (Dearborn, MI for instance).
I am a confirmed conservative that dislikes Oliver Stone movies. In the past, he could not keep his politics out of the movies.
This movie is an exception. It is devoid of politics. It is an excellent movie about people. The scene when the Marine is going through the building debris looking for survivors is super.
I highly recommend this movie.
I will never trust the communist stone with my time or money.
