God rest the souls of Flyer and now Roger

In early May of this year, our dear friend Flyer was diagnosed with a brain tumor and lung cancer. The doc’s told him the tumor was not curable, but treatable. His understanding of the lung cancer was that it was minor (if there is such a thing).
Several weeks ago Flyer finished radiation. Tuesday was his first chemo treatment. Friday he was feeling bad, but did not want to go to the hospital. His brother finally called an ambulance Saturday morning to take him to the ER.
A few minutes ago Eaker, myself and Roger (Flyer’s brother) returned from the hospital. The news is not good.
The lung cancer has spread rapidly. Flyer only has use of one lung. He is on constant oxygen, and his breathing is still labored. Because of the cancer and tumor his immune system cannot keep up, now he has a major infection in his left leg. They are giving him antibiotics thru an IV
The doctors told the three of us that Flyer does not want any heroic measured taken. Right now his care instructions are to keep him hydrated and comfortable.
For those wondering why a prayer thread was not started earlier, it is because Flyer did not want one ~ several friends asked if they could start one, and he said ‘no there are others who need prayers more that I’.
It truly breaks my heart to type the following words, our good friend and a wonderful man will soon die. I am asking you to please pray for Flyer’s comfort.
I am bringing a cooler full of beer and will ice the ice down with rock salt ~ which should keep the beer cold forever!
No way.. the rock salt is for the under-twelve hurricane looters.

Dear Flyer wouldn't have it any other way. He would want us to have fun in his honor. Flyer could really make me laugh.
We're going to do his memory proud! :-)
We could use just plain old rocks for them.

It's exactly the kind of Memorial I would want myself. I wish I had had a chance to know him better. I only met him the one time.

Awesome...I wonder how many more dead animals are gonna be sacrificed for Flyer! LOL! I guess I will have to try them all!

Hi, I'm Jim's (Flyer's) sister-in-law Jean. I am married to Jim's youngest brother Kevin. I just wanted to let you know about Roger. I'm not sure if Roger was active in FreeRepublic or not but I'm sure you probably got to know him while Jim was ill. Kevin just found out this evening that Roger has passed away.
Thank you for everything you did for Jim while he was here and since he has been gone. Kevin was going to take Jim's cremains to Roger sometime this week but now we will be clearing out their home instead. Please let me know if Jim had mention to you what he would like done with his cremains. I have been reading all of the nice things everyone has said about Jim on the FreeRepublic website. Please tell everyone THANK YOU from us.
We are very sorry but we will not be able to attend the Memorial Service this weekend but thank you for including us.
