Prayer Request for Flyer (Update: Sadly, Flyer has passed away)
8/13/06 | TheMom

Posted on 08/13/2006 9:05:49 PM PDT by TheMom

In early May of this year, our dear friend Flyer was diagnosed with a brain tumor and lung cancer. The doc’s told him the tumor was not curable, but treatable. His understanding of the lung cancer was that it was minor (if there is such a thing).

Several weeks ago Flyer finished radiation. Tuesday was his first chemo treatment. Friday he was feeling bad, but did not want to go to the hospital. His brother finally called an ambulance Saturday morning to take him to the ER.

A few minutes ago Eaker, myself and Roger (Flyer’s brother) returned from the hospital. The news is not good.

The lung cancer has spread rapidly. Flyer only has use of one lung. He is on constant oxygen, and his breathing is still labored. Because of the cancer and tumor his immune system cannot keep up, now he has a major infection in his left leg. They are giving him antibiotics thru an IV

The doctors told the three of us that Flyer does not want any heroic measured taken. Right now his care instructions are to keep him hydrated and comfortable.

For those wondering why a prayer thread was not started earlier, it is because Flyer did not want one ~ several friends asked if they could start one, and he said ‘no there are others who need prayers more that I’.

It truly breaks my heart to type the following words, our good friend and a wonderful man will soon die. I am asking you to please pray for Flyer’s comfort.

Count on Two from our house, Mom. And I'm bringing some dessert stuff.

And please, can I remind everyone to please wear a name tag or shirt or something with your screen name on it so others can identify you???

I love your tagline! I'm looking forward to it, too! I guess I'll bring plates and forks and naps and muchies.

Oh. And beer, of course. Wouldn't be TX without beer.

Thank you. I "stole" the tagline from a quote of Mr.Silverback's. It just spoke to me.

I am not sure what I'll bring. I am flying in and NYT is picking me up at the airport. I figure that we'll do a little shopping before showing up.

Can't wait to meetcha! We've got plates, cutlery, naps and cups. I got 2 heavy vinyl tablecloths and we've bringing some chairs, I think. We can always follow to shop with you since I'm kind of counting on NYT to know his way around.

NYT is good at finding his way (thanks to Google Earth), but he IS coming down from NY, so I am not even sure when we will be doing the shopping thing! LOL! I am getting excited...though I know it's for a serious event. Flyer himself would be excited...and probably is! I wonder how many are supposed to be there...so we can buy enough stuff.

There will be many a digital camera there. I'll even bet there will be one or two laptops so we can "Go Live".

If there is a hackable wireless connection around, you betcha!

Otherwise surely we'll be taking lots of pictures.
