The last two of the 11 Egyptian exchange students who failed to show up at their college program were apprehended Sunday in Richmond, Va., customs officials said.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Mohamed Saleh Ahmed Maray, 20, and Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad El Shenawy, 17, at an apartment building in Richmond on Sunday night. Virginia State Police and the Richmond Police helped locate the students.

Anyway, some police saw some kids, like 12-14 yrs old, with some really hi-tech radios that were known to be real expensive, stopped the kids and lo and behold, it's the White House stuff. Kid's names were not middle-eastern.
Thank you SO much for posting. This was realling bugging me.
Jeeze ... unbelievable. Wonder why the team didn't also leave a couple of laptops .. seems to be the current rage./sarc
Are you around Richmond? I can't find any details, just a "Richmond apartment". Is there more on the local news?
Of course, one must not assume racial profiling
had anything to do with their apprehension!
THe ACLU would certainly jump on that one and
award the guys medals for outsmarting the
Feds. Who last saw a blonde hair/blue eyed
Egyptian? Dumb liberal deterrent tactic!
Yes, I'm in Richmond.
I haven't found anything in the local news yet to say exactly where in Richmond they were. All I'm finding is the AP story so far.
They went to San Fransisco, then to Des Moines??? Geez - these guys get around.
My daughter is there. It concerns me how few details there are on this. Would you mind pinging me if you hear anything?
I am bothered by the lack of details as well.
I don't understand why local radio, TV and newspapers aren't more forthcoming with details.
I'll let you know if I hear anything more.
I suspect that they just held him on the visa violation because they didn't yet have the goods on him re: the fundraising. At some point the gov has to show that they have enough to justify his detention, and presumably they could not do so.
That being said, there's no reason not to deport him (except for the decades-long history of not deporting people for this kind of violation).
The FBI investigated, had him incarcerated,...
Anyone else in Richmond heard anything more about where the two Egyptians were arrested? I haven't even heard which side of the river they were caught.
"Anyone else in Richmond heard anything more about where the two Egyptians were arrested? I haven't even heard which side of the river they were caught."
Nope, I was looking to you for details. LOL
I am very nervous about this whole thing, but having found them in our back yard so to speak has me almost freaked out.
Thanks! I'll do the same. So far it's the same clueless AP story.
And THAT, sir, should cause you some sleepless nights...

All I had heard was Virginia, nothing more specific.
Somewhere here on Free Republic, guessing around 2001-2002, there were post regarding Muslim crossings in Texas, and found items, multiple visas, identifications, etc., because, as you know, Mexico will sell ANYTHING for a buck.
Ranchers reported backpacks and Koran copies found on their lands. Nothing new. Border Patrol reported it also.
Remember 9/11? 40 or 50 "Arab" males were reported in Tijuana by a motel owner who call the San Diego office of the FBI. They were apprehended and taken into custody. No word after that incident.
Because Richmond is so close to Montana.....
*ouch*
