I'm having a hard time picturing what everybody is worrying about here. This "ceasefire" is going to last about five minutes.

Thank you ever so much Mr. Nasralla!

With enemies like these, who needs friends?

Israel called Lebbie/Hezzie's bluff.

That thought has occurred to us as well. Some folks were piling on Israel for saying they would agree to the resolution, and that they had basically given a win to Hezbollah, yata yata yata.... Personally, I'm inclined to give Israel more credit than that. I also do not think that President Bush would have been onboard with this resolution if not for very good reasons.

Maybe that's why we agreed to it and the French wasted no time in hedging the committment to send troops.

Hezbollah now appears completely isolated in Lebanon: every Sunni, Christian and Druze faction hates their guts and wants them defanged, and any prolongation of hostilities will be blamed squarely on them.

All we have to do now is arm and equip these factions to be the hammer while the Israeli positions south and east of the Litani are the anvil.

Sp = Havoc

(For those who do not understand Uriah Lost's reference, it was used by the Romans to let their soldiers know that while fighting they should take no prisoners.)

UPDATE: Captainsquartersblog says that BBC is reporting that Lebanon is refusing to disarm Hezz.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4789083.stm

Crucial Lebanese cabinet talks on disarming Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon under a UN-brokered ceasefire have been put off.

A truce between Israel and Hezbollah is due to come into force at 0500 GMT.

The postponement, amid reported divisions, seriously complicates the establishment of a stable ceasefire, the BBC's Nick Childs in Beirut says. ...

[T]he issue of Hezbollah's disarmament and its military presence in southern Lebanon continues to cause major tensions within the fragile government, our correspondent reports.

He says that without a meeting and an agreed plan, it seems that the deployment of 15,000 Lebanese army troops to the south is unlikely to go ahead.

The ceasefire is DOA. Nevertheless Israel's leaders intend to implement it, just to show they're good little Quakerite Christians who turn the other cheek. Fools!

Why is Israel accepting this "peace deal" and Hezbollah refuses to disarm? Olmert needs to be replaced with a more competent leader.

Yesterday terrorist leader Nasrallah said we will accept UN resolution 1701. Hours ago they changed their mind and said no to UN resolution 1701, this clearly tells you that UN resolution 1701 is a defeat for Hizballah and that why they refused it. Now that the terrorists refused to leave to the North Litani river, then Israel will force them to do so.

I agree with you. This gives Israel the green light to continue. I wish that IDF would use a Douhet model on the Hezbollah on bring them to total submission.
