Check out what looks like a staple in the upper left corner of Castro's "newspaper" and the lighting that is typical for a stack of papers folded at the staple.

Honestly, I don't think the photo itself is fake. But the circumstances surrounding it are unknown, which makes it difficult to authenticate, imo.

Does anyone know what the article is about? Is it dated and where? If you are trying to authenticate it, that's where I would head.

Of course, he could actually still be alive.

They have been fooling the liberals so successfully and for so long, they now think they can fool everybody.

Duh! The liberals are always the first to fall for anything.

Fooling a liberal no more difficult than fooling a parakeet.

Is that Jimmy Carter's bedspread in the background?

As for the Adidas get-up, he was pictured wearing it alongside Carter, back in 2002.

Used to make my galley proofs on 11 x 17 before taking it to the print plant for my own newspaper.

BINGO!

My bet is that it's a proof copy.  The red ink gets picked up on the printing press.

However, Fidel probably could have had it photo-shopped from red to black so he and his brother could bet on how many tin foil posts in Free Republic will suggest this is the beginning of "Weekend at Fidel's."

He actually looks very similar in those two photos. If this is real, he hasn't aged much in the past four years.

I think it's possible they photographed Castro some days ago with a newspaper for the very purpose of inserting a different paper later on in order to prove his continued existence.

The photo of Castro with Carter leads to one logical question: Is Carter for real?

"I think it's possible they photographed Castro some days ago with a newspaper for the very purpose of inserting a different paper later on in order to prove his continued existence."

I agree, but my guess is that he held up 5 or 6 blank sheets of 11 X 17 paper (folded down the middle) back in 2002 (when he was photographed with Jimmy Carter, wearing the same jacket). He may have (long) known that these shots would be his "last" shots.

Look at the color of their hats. Why is one orange and one red? Maybe one hat is older and has had the original brightness somewhat washed out of it?

That was a poor attempt at a joke. It amazes me someone who was once a U.S. Presidnet is now associating himself with a communist dictator. Carter should be trid for treason.

At least the parakeet keeps his droppings confined to the (liberal) newspaper on the bottom of his cage.

Libs like to spread theirs around .

I don't believe they're the same person, for the following reasons:

1.  The ears are different
2.  The bridge of the nose in Photo #1 is smaller than in Photo #2
3.  The tip of the nose points downward in photo #1 as opposed to Photo #2 (where it's also more bulbous)
4.  Eye color appears to be different
5.  The moles are not evident in Photo #1
6.  The cheeks are not as puffy in Photo #1
7.  The forehead is longer in Photo #1, and not because of a receding hairline -- it's a different shape.

I wish I could see his hands -- that would give away quite a bit.

I think its the same person. Picture one as taken several years before picture two.

If Castro was still alive or not in a coma, they would have him holding a copy of today's New York Times with the print very readable (date).
