Lieberman should drop out of election race: Dean

U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (news, bio, voting record) should bow out of the November's congressional race altogether after his defeat in Connecticut's Democratic primary, a top Democrat said on Sunday.

Lieberman, a three-term senator and Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000, lost to political newcomer Ned Lamont in Connecticut on Tuesday and said he plans to run as an independent in the November election.

Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said Lieberman should support his party -- and Lamont -- rather than running against him to defeat the Republicans.

"I know how hard this is for Joe, and he is a good person, but the truth is I lost one of these races and I got behind my party's nominee and I think that is what you have to do if you want to help this country," Dean, former governor of Vermont, said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"The way to help this country is to limit Republican power."

What else can you expect Dean to say? He's chairman of the party. Did he get spastic and start shouting out the names of Connecticut counties in which he would campaign for Lamont?

Don't lose any tears over Lieberman's loss. Outside of WOT, he's a solid liberal.

I heard on FoxNews this a.m. that
Lieberman received a phone call from
Karl Rove telling him that while the
GOP will not support financially. the
Republicans will NOT work against him.
That said, the Lieberman URL is up and
working now.

I just send his campaign $50 as a one
time contribution to help his cause.
All my other contributions have been
to the GOP bucket.

Go get those Conn. Independents, Joe!

We are witnessing the beginning stages of the dissolution of the democratic party, or the formation of a whole new party. Or both...

my skin crawls when this guy opens his mouth. "the way to help this country," Howard Dean, is to go check yourself in to a high security facility. One way.

The entire Democrat "Traitor/Treason/Cut&Run" party is a dangerous political party, and it needs to be completely destroyed by the American voters, NOW!!!

Funny, I would imagine that Dean would not have taken very kindly to the same suggestion if it had been made by Terry McAwful after Dean started losing primaries left and right back in 2004.

To this day, I still don't know how Karl Rove managed to pull off getting Howie installed as the Chairman of the DNC, but Rove surely has Lee Atwater in stitches as he looks down at these shenanigans!

In another age, a man like Howard Dean would have sent him to a gas chamber.
