He is already addressing Ned as Senator Lamont!

Watching Wallace's face, I took it more as goading Lamont, as if to say "what if you really get some decision making power, will you hold to these positions." I didn't take it as a Wallace endorsement of his candidacy. Just my take on it.

typical Hirsch hype non-story. It turns out that the US didn't know that Israel was going to attack Hezbollah or when they were going to do it, but that the US had knowledge of what Israel planned to do if they ever did attack Hezbollah.

Well, duh!

Breaking News! More Pulitzer Prize material from Seymour Hirsch! The Pentagon had plans to attack the Soviet Union with nuclear missiles during the cold war! Unprecedented! How shocking! No one knew!

What a crock!

Okay! I spend more time reading FR than actually watching the shows. I was surprised to see that title in print. I am sensitive to the use of titles since almost every journo and pundit seems to be allergic to putting the words "president" and "Bush" together in a sentence. It is always Mr Bush. But I never hear Mr Kerry or Mr McCain or Mr you-name-it.

Heh, every time I post, I refer to the President as the President, or President Bush, always caps. It's my little push back.

well I can tell you my New Haven Born, democrat all his life(now NPA), Jewish Husband was listening to Rush on the Radio for the last couple of weeks because of Israel and recently because of Lieberman. He was flabbergasted by how I would be explaining to him about this and that about Israel and the anti Israel Democrats and then Rush would say basically the same thing. His mind was blown when Rush said "I love Israel". Funny how he never pays attention and I can say something, but he does not take as much stock in it until Rush or even Roger Hedgecock says it. He was quite shocked that all the talk shows I had on were conservative, and they all were for Lieberman and Israel. I flat out predicted that Lieberman would win in November against Ned the Red.

Because we have family here, I am finally able to listen to MTP in full and hear the 9/11 Commissioner Chairmen speak to Gregory (who is doing a very good job, btw).

The Chairmen are appalled that if the British plot had not been discovered that American lives would have been lost because "we don't have liquid detection systems at the airports."

It seems to have escaped the two Chairmen's notice and Gregory's notice that the jihadists would be screened and board the planes in ANOTHER COUNTRY.

Nothing we did with regard to screening or technology would have made a whit of difference to the British plots.

You are absolutely right, and if the two chairmen were not partisan hacks bordering on dementia trying to sell a book they might think about that fact.

I would love to see Hugh Hewitt fill in for Wallace one Sunday. You would see the differance between TV and Radio.

Post WWII the country was more united than it had been in a long time. Both sides of the political equation, Pubbies and dems, knew what fascism/totalitarianism/dictators were and what they stood for.

Fast forward 50 years into a PC world with a nanny state govt. now firmly in place in the US with a spinning DBM triangulating, anything for power people like Soros, Howard Dean, Harry reid,Pelosi, hillary and bill clinton/John McCainiac world of the early 2,000's and if your head has not stopped spinning it's no wonder.

For the most part these people who would trick your mind(with the aide of their drive-by companions) into voting for them, are not as slick and brilliant as they may think.

So last week when dusty harry had the true nerve to accuse GW of being behind the quelled attack from more mad crazy islamofascists crazed bombers in the UK,who were upset about how we got in the middle of a "civil war in Iraq"(what BS) few were surprised. The politically astute, many on this website, had even expected it.

We now have an opposition party(the dirty dems) that has little or no respect for Democracy and freedom only political power at any cost. So when dusty harry proclaimed that we are creating terrorists because of our stand for freedom in Iraq and other areas of the globe (which could be WWIII only time will tell), few were surprised.

But some may have had their fill. Some may have sat back and reflected saying here our country was just saved from potentially another 911 style attack and the opposition party is complaining! Is this a time for complaints or a time for celebration and rejoicing of the fact that we were not attacked! Prudent people/voters know the answer. Those jaded by the all encompassing thoughts of power who speculated that the dem/rats might make a clean sweep in Nov. courtesy of all the remaking of history creatively done by the DBM maybe better take another look at our nation and how it views it's patriots and its traitors.

People are not dumb. They know the difference.

In this instance, we'd also see the difference between a newsreader/game show host and an articulate journalist.

Prudent people/voters know the answer.

#####

Let us hope that these prudent people make it their business to vote this fall. We certainly have THE talking point to convince our friends why voting for a dem is not in their best interest, ie in their life continuing!

Dean can't even talk by himself and make sense. He's a mishmash of thoughts ....and none of them are clear....he can't appear with someone else...they massacre him.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

howard Dean is Vermont's Village Idiot. He is a great gift to the Rebuplican party. Everytime I see him on national TV, I cry "YES!"

MSM: Keep rolling out Deaniac, and you can hear the pitter pater sound of little feet, moderate Dems heading Right as terrorist Islamofascist events unfold.

I heard the replay on radio, and the audio reinforced your thought, although I don't think he contemplated anything. Gregory was rather rapid fire, quick to move to the next question, as if from his list of issues to hit, almost like it was from a script. Not a second for contemplation, just moving on. FWIW, which is not much.

I think the news media is built to create sound bites.

Like, I ask a question..you give an answer: I ask another question...you give another answer; then I'll watch the replay and figure out what you said and create my 30 second slug for cable news.

Was not Arianna once a conservative or at least make noises to that effect? I seem to recall she would knock Clinton.

Well, we all know how reliable this can (not) be, but here's what it says at Wikipedia about Arianna:

Birth, education, and family

Huffington was born in Athens, Greece as Arianna Stassinopoulos, the daughter of Konstantinos (a journalist and management consultant) and Elli (Georgiadi) Stassinopoulos, and the sister of Agapi (an author, speaker and performer). She moved to England at the age of sixteen, and attended Girton College at Cambridge University where she was President of the Cambridge Union Society in 1971 and graduated with a MA in Economics in 1972.

[edit]

Columnist and lost love

After graduation, she moved to London, working as a columnist, critic, and appearing on a number of TV shows. For much of this time, she lived with literary critic Bernard Levin, whom she had met while the two were panelists on the television show Face the Music. She left Levin in 1980 to move to the United States (partly, she later said, because he refused to marry her). On his death in 2004, she called Levin "The big love of my life."

[edit]

Marriage and divorce

She met Michael Huffington at a 1985 party hosted by Ann Getty in San Francisco. She married him in 1986, and they moved to Washington when he was appointed to the Department of Defense. They later established residency in Santa Barbara, California, in order for him to run for the U.S. House of Representatives, which he won by a significant margin. They divorced in 1997, three years after he narrowly lost the 1994 race for the U.S. Senate seat from California to Dianne Feinstein. Michael Huffington, a conservative who had publicly supported gays in the military during his political career, announced in 1998 that he is bisexual. A 1999 magazine article claimed that Arianna Huffington "entered the marriage... with full knowledge of [Michael Huffington's] sexual interests in men." The financial terms of their divorce agreement remain undisclosed. Huffington chose to continue using her former husband's last name instead of Stassinopoulos.

[edit]

Political work and changes

In 1996, she and liberal comedian Al Franken participated in Comedy Central's coverage of the 1996 presidential elections. For her work, she and the writing team of Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher were nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program.

Huffington's alleged shift in political ideology was purportedly inspired by her Left, Right & Center colleague, Robert Scheer, her friend Al Franken and her claimed perception that the Republican Party does not do enough to help the "less fortunate." Huffington's political transition coincided with the crisis in the Balkans during the 90's. Huffington was a strong and vocal opponet of American intervention against the Serbians during the Bosnian and Kosovo wars.

In 2000, she instigated the 'Shadow Conventions', which appeared at the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia and the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. To one of the attendees at the Shadow Convention in Philadelphia, State Rep. Mark B. Cohen of Philadelphia, "the subjects of the Shadow Convention—campaign finance reform, reform of America's drug laws, fighting the causes of poverty, reducing corporate influence on the political process—showed that she had come a long way from her days as a Gingrich backer while remaining a registered Republican."

So, she was married to a "very conservative" but bisexual Republican and, shortly after divorcing him, hooked up politically with Al Franken.

That explains a lot, to me at least.

Thanks for Ariannan's bio. I do put much credit in Wiki, unless they say something fishy then I check it out. Here is a fact that jumped out at me. She graduated Cambridge in 1972 so had to be there at same time Slick Willy was at Oxford (1968 and again in 69 as he danced around the draft) (much truth written here: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/politics/clintondraft.asp).
Did they hook up? Were they throwing Molotov cocktails together in London? If he had chosen Zsa Zsa instead of equally wacked Hillary...the permutations are endless.

Gregory: The Vice Chair of the Senate Intel Committee, Rockefeller, says that policies of the past 5 years have inflamed extremism.

Mehlman: I'd tell Rockfeller to tell that to the families who lost loved ones in 1993 WTC bombing, Mogadishu, East African bombings, the bombing of the Cole, etc.

YES!!!!!! Excellent point, especially to those who think that history began when George W. Bush was inaugurated.

I have a dream, Peach, that in front of the entire nation, say...at the SOTU, the President would read some of the most definite and sure statements about Iraq being a threat (even using the term that W never used - "imminent threat"...courtesy of Breck Girl), and then mention from whom those statements came...he won't do it, but oh how I wish he would, consequences be damned.

Mehlman answers a question beautifully about NK and other places - if we can't watch/listen to people and can't use missile defense, how are the democrats going to do a better job than Republicans protecting America?

This guy is good...especially considering that idiotic opinion/ruling that the Rabbit appointee wrote yesterday (and he said this four days prior...I wonder if he expected the ruling?)
