I like to pick a favorite quote from articles such as this:
"Living in Qatar there is a constant battle with men staring. Workers actually gawk and refuse to turn away when you catch their eye ..."
See, they're not so different from us after all! ;)

I wonder how many media heads would explode if Ann Coulter showed up for an interview wearing the Moslem woman's outer wear? I like modesty over sleaziness, but I wonder how the presstitutes would react?

Perhaps over there they don't all yell at her, "Hey, sweet cheeks, you want a little of this?"

Lulua thinks only tall, slim women can carry off the butterfly abaya
Hey, Annie could carry it off, I bet. How classic if she would pose in one for a promo photo.

Actually, some middle-eastern clothing is quite pretty. When my husband was considering a contract in Kuwait, I looked at quite a few websites for clothing, and was surprised by how much I liked some of them. Most of beauty in middle-eastern garments can be attributed to fabric and cut...

Tony Snow would be a hero for all time if he presented Helen with one of these at an upcoming news briefing.

"The bin Laden covers a woman from her head to her toe, revealing only her face."I suppose the "bin laden" could have it's place in Western culture.

Dude, I don't care much for those clothes, but Muslim women are *hot*.
To: Swordmaker
I wear it to avoid stares from workers, to protect myself and keep myself in a happy bubble. Uhhh... some need that protection more than others.

Everyone smile! Say JIHAD!

Reminds me of the Gong Show's "Unknown Comic" with the paper bag on his face.
In this case though, I guess they are "Unknown Bomb-Chicks"
If they wear the abaya in the Middle East to avoid the stares of the men- who apparently have no responsibilities in life over their own behavior...
...Then why do they want to wear them over here in the US where the outfits are certain to draw staring eyes?
