The FBI, Homeland Security and police are investigating a suspicious purchase of cell phones at a Wal-Mart in Caro, Mich.
Three men were arrested Friday on suspicion of buying more than 1,000 cell pones, Local 4 reported.
The Nokia Tracfones cost about $20, and customers receive a phone plus 40 minutes of airtime. Also, the phones do not have to be registered to a name, the station reported. These are the same type of phones connected to terror charges against two Dearborn men arrested in Ohio, according to the station's report.

The fact that they were unpacking them, collecting the power supplies in one container, and removing a specific chip from all the phones might have raised some red flags?
Not all LEOs are total idiots.
I'm getting worried, drive times from where these people have been caught, isn't very far from Metro Detroit.

Since those cell phones are manufactured in lots, it may be time to randomly dial some of those numbers. A few surprise kabooms might do wonders.

Let's not underestimate the enemy. These devices always have an "activation" switch. Even if it's just a wire pair twisted together. You scenario is possible only with the truly stupid.
Yep, these guys wanted to sell a $20 cell phone for $38 without a charger or battery..........do they think we are stupid? :)

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out 5 cents a minute, then toss the phone away is great way for any terrorist to keep his conversations from being traced. I say ban these phones.
