WACO, Texas Cindy Sheehan said Saturday that despite her overnight hospitalization after a minor gynecological procedure and treatment for dehydration, the war protest activities will continue on land she bought near President Bush's Crawford ranch.
Sheehan was listed stable condition Saturday at Providence Health Center in Waco, about 20 miles east of Crawford.
Sheehan said she could be released later in the day but would still need to rest. She said she probably would not attend an afternoon barbecue at Camp Casey, the protesters' campsite named for her soldier son who was killed in Iraq in 2004.
"Everything will still go on," Sheehan, 49, told The Associated Press on Saturday morning. "I hope I can get there soon."
The protest is to continue through Sept. 3, even though Bush's 10-day ranch vacation is to end Sunday.
After spending a few days in Seattle at the Veterans for Peace convention, Sheehan returned to Texas on Friday. She planned to get back to the war protest she resumed Aug. 6, the one-year anniversary of the start of her 26-day peace vigil that drew thousands of anti-war demonstrators and also spurred counter protests of Bush supporters.
But instead, friends took her from the airport to the hospital. Sheehan, who had been on a liquid diet as part of the nationwide "Troops Home Fast" hunger strike, had been treated and released from a Seattle emergency room Thursday night. There she ate for the first time in about 37 days, said her spokeswoman Tiffany Burns.
Sheehan was dehydrated again Friday, but she said it was probably from excessive bleeding and not from the fasting. Doctors in Waco performed a procedure to stop uterine bleeding, gave her a blood transfusion and also were to perform a biopsy on tissue samples, she said.
So far this summer's protest has gotten off to a slow start, with about 50 demonstrators last Sunday and about a dozen since then. But Sheehan has said she expects more people to come next week after the Veterans for Peace convention ends.
Sheehan paid for the 5-acre lot near downtown, about 7 miles from Bush's ranch, last month so the group would have a place to protest when Bush was at his ranch. Sheehan first camped in ditches off the rural road leading to the ranch, but county leaders later banned roadside parking and camping. A sympathetic landowner let the group hold protests on his 1-acre lot near the ranch until recently.
I don't even want to think about this.
...and MORE. Great post
she's a stalker
An afternoon BARBECUE? I thought they were all fasting?
**snicker** A dozen protesters spread out on 5 acres. Yeah, that's intimidating.
chuckle..
16 minuets into her 15 minutes of fame.
"She said she probably would not attend an afternoon barbecue at Camp Casey, the protesters' campsite named for her soldier son who was killed in Iraq in 2004"
ROTFLOL!!!! A barbecue? So now it's a barbecue fast? LOL!
Diagnosis: Anal-cranial immersion
My guess 50 of them were reporters from the MSM, although I don't know what they could reporting on.
"Everything will still go on ..."
Actually .. her statement revealed that she is not pulling the strings of this movement .. she is merely a figurehead. Most of us already knew this .. but she has now made it certain that she is not running things.
When she's no long useful to the communist leaders of this protest, they will toss her overboard like they do all the others.
"Moonbat Duty" must have a Great Medical Benifits & Prescription Plan. (No Co-Pay I'm sure...)
So, she had an abortion. I wonder who the father was? Jesse?
wrong body cavity...snicker
Doing the same thing over and OVER AND OVER with no results. LOL!
The poor brave woman just keeps fighting on!
(Note: this is sarcasm.)
LOL at the BBQ! They gonna BBQ liquids?
Do you suppose she has insurance, or, are the good people of Waco paying for this?
If the good people are paying for this, then maybe they can place a lien on the property she owns. Regardless, she'd better get her protesting done shortly (we're having a cool snap. Only supposed to be 96 today) because the weather forecast is calling for 103 in Dallas tomorrow and around 104 for the rest of the week.
I don't think she had an abortion. She just had her infected uterus scraped. Its a woman thing. She's a real trooper though, no DandC, dehydration or exhaustion is going to stop her...why..she's emblematic of the Texas Longhorns...
