One second we are talking about the Lieberman primary loss in Connecticut and the very next, the all-but-carried-out plan by al-Qaida to blow up multiple passenger jets over the Atlantic Ocean. What is the lesson in such a drastic change of subject from the innocuous to the terrifying?
For a number of people in the business of preventing terrorism, it says the 2008 presidential election has to be about electing the candidate most qualified to ensure the national security of our country. It says that ignorance is far from bliss, and potentially suicidal.
Al-Qaida and its twisted imitators will not stop, will not go away, and will not veer from their No. 1 target the United States. To think otherwise is to endanger our national security.
In various discussions I've had with friends in the military and intelligence services, one point and worry keeps being repeated. Those in the business of protecting America, whether they agree with all of his policies or not, are grateful to have George W. Bush as president.

open borders.............
GOP pundits need to be out shouting that if it wasn't for Domestic Surveillance this plot may well have gone through and thousands would have died.
Now debate it with Harry Reid screaming " We Killed the Patriot Act" .... that truly makes for an excellent campaign commercial.
Right now, it seems that we are tip-toe'ing through this war with political correctness, which better stop soon for everyones' good.
1.The economy can take care of itself if the Congress doesn't meddle with it
2.A simplified tax system is mandatory
3.The military will be structured to include units that will track down and dispose of any pissant that threatens us whether they're in a friendly country or East Bawana Island.
Will get my vote no matter what party.
cadidate=candidate, unless you're talking Kennedys
Also from Townhall, the information that a pair of Muslims arrested in Middle America because they bought cell phones from a Radio Shack and wouldn't give their names, etc...the clerk called the cops, who followed them, and when they failed to use a turn signal when turning, arrested them. He found 11 grand, marijuana, airport information all over the country, names and locales of every Wal-Mart, more cell phones. Feds notified. The two men admitted, finally, that they take the phones apart and send the chips to Iraq where they're used in making bombs against our soldiers. Nice.
Kerry probably has a plan, but it's still a secret.
Bingo.
This was an attempted terror attack. I don't believe it will have the same effects as 9/11. Terror will be an issue for 2008, but not the only item. Had this been 9/11 all over again, it would have been a bloodbath for the Republicans in 2006 and 2008. Thank God for the Britons.
More reason to protect our borders, deport illegal, and cut off immigration from hostile nations and hostile/criminal groups.
Our plan: since Israel couldn't smash Hezbollah in two weeks, it was time to sell them down the river. Hello, UN resolution. Everyone knows this agreement is a crock, and we'll be right back in the same place before long. Israeli reservists who were called up recently -- older men, not the younger, guing-ho troops who'd fought for the two weeks -- were disillusioned and angry, knowing that they were fodder for the real deal, diplomacy...which would ultimately fail. Looks like they were right.
Last night, bor kept after the dim person about Iraq. She started tripping over her tongue, but finally got a bunch of BS out.
What you said in your Post #15 uncbob is so RIGHT ON!!!!!
Some of them might be covert but there's got to be a few people who work in some areas of National Security who could stand up and make this known. C'mon.
It can't be for fear of reprisal from anyone when you've got Generals speaking out against the Administration's handling of the war and saying there is a possible Civil War coming in Iraq when the Prez is their Commander in Chief.
It's time somebody said something.
Maybe because they can only get that particular brand or model here in the U.S.?? Your guess is as good as mine.
Thank God they're our allies. Thank God for Tony Blair, too.
