Investigators around the world are in the process of tracking suspects and working to fill in details about the plot to blow up 10 U.S.-bound flights.
We have learned that one of the suspects arrested by British authorities in the airline terror plot has just been released. Scotland Yard has not given any further details on which suspect or why they were let go.
The material is called acetone peroxide - a deadly explosive. It is believed each terrorist would bring ingredients on board, and assemble them while on the plane.
Then someone would use a spark from a disposable camera's flash as the detonator. Law enforcement officials say they are fighting a losing battle as long as the hunt is for a bomb not the bomber.

I thought possibly a separate vial was going to be dropped into the beverage and then taken out and blown up later. Understand what I mean?
I know the screeners have rules to follow or be fired but they do tend to act like little gods or ba$tards in this case. They would have been delighted to arrest me had I protested further. And to top it off, her ticket clearly showed it had been purchased through the cancer center (which gets us a discount).
Searching ALL persons without concentrating on Middle Eastern persons is stupid.
And profiling is too easy to beat.
Really? Hasn't been thus far.
The only way to beat them is to uncover the plot and arrest them before they ever get near the airport. Just like in this instance.
DUH.
The deadly liquid explosive the terrorists were planning to use aboard the planes is so lethal it's known as "Mother of Satan."

"It basically creates a list of "safe" passengers and "risk" passengers. It cuts down on the needed for a search in a big way."

Exactly -- they don't waste time and are able to focus on the at risk passengers.
As the law enforcement said:
"Law enforcement officials say they are fighting a losing battle as long as the hunt is for a bomb not the bomber. "
I just thought it was kinda funny and kept a great attitude.
LOL ~ super story!
Im going to use my common sense and listen to that little voice. Currently everyons crap has to go through metal detectors and x-ray machine. That eliminates a lot of people right there depending on how they are dressed.
If a wheelchair is going through with concealed areas and an old white jewish grandmother is in it, Im going to look at that too.
The thing is, a recipe so stupidly dangerous that the person mixing it won't survive is just fine for Mohammedans who have accepted Sayd Qutb's reinterpretation of Islamic 'martyrdom' as including suicide in the process of killing infidels: just mix a batch sitting among infidels at 35,000 feet.
Clean record, never arrested, never been to court...rarely get on the plan without a "Sir, do you mind if we do an extra search?"...I just grin and bear it. <<<<
Exactly, me too. And I carry a badge, which doesn't help one bit, so don't feel bad. Maybe that makes them even more suspicious, LOL. It all started when I used to fly to meet my husband when he works out of town, then we drive home. Or I'd drive up with him to the assignment then fly home; either way, I'm a potential terrorist.
What the real crime is that they haven't followed through with recommended advanced background checks for passengers. Doesn't El-Al Airlines do this? <<<<<<<<<<<<<
I believe they do this, but they still search to the max, I think. Funny, I was just recalling a local columnist in the early 70's who used to get "profiled" every time he flew due to his swarthy looks. He was good natured about it. How innocent we were when we thought the worst thing that could happen was a plane ending up in Cuba or a hostage situation.
The ringleaders that were captured in Pakistan are now being tortured and the U.S. pressing for their rendition to one of the CIA interrogation centers where they are holding KSM and others.
At least England won't get their citizens that were captured in Pakistan anytime soon. The are probably being waterboarded as we speak.
