Hitler claimed to be whatever suited his purpose at the moment: Christian, Catholic, Pagan, atheist, socialist, capitalist.
Not that he was, of course, but he veritably claimed to be, several times:

Hitler used Christianity in much the same way liberals do but I do believe you're correct about him never claiming Christianity for himself.
My grandfather dealt with nazis and former nazis immediately following WWII. One of the widely held SS beliefes was that "the master race" came from an ice moon from deep space.
