CNN had to quote an anonymous US official big mouth - yet 1500 British agents knew how to keep their traps shut. The lesson for the CIA and State Dept - STFU
We have Clinton people in all of our agencies who have an interest in damaging the president for perceived political benefit. When have we seen former presidents and secretaries of state all over television attacking the succeeding administration? We haven't. This nonsense is unprecedented. It is more evidence of the damage done to this country by Bill Clinton and the gang of true believers. And the damage continues.
"Investigators eventually fitted 12 vehicles with GPS tracking devices"
Nice "head's up" to all terrorists to scan their vehicles for GPS devices.
excellent point
In the past I would have assumed CNN made that "source" up but now, I just don't know who not to trust more....
bump
fyi
Ten bucks says there were about 5 British agents working on this case -- and this information was put out there by "an anonymous U.S. official" to make anyone considering a similar terrorist attack think there is a huge effort in place to stop them.
I suppose you think that justifies profiling.
They followed their targets, recorded their meetings and conversations, secretly scrutinised their bank accounts, and took note of what they read on the internet, where they shopped and how they spent their money.
Thank God, the ACLU and the Democratic Party that such outrageous police state activities cannot occur here.
/sarcasm
Profiling would be a good start...it isn't Christians from remote villages in Sweden causing all the headaches.
While as a news junkie I am thrilled to know every last detail about how this case was cracked open, this is precisely why counter-terrorism needs to be fought as a war, and not as a law-enforcement problem.
These men should have been hunted down in the shadows, swept up into one of those secret jails we supposedly have, sweated for every last piece of information they are good for, and then drop-kicked into the Black Sea.
As it is, their comrades have a very good idea how to adjust their tactics, to make sure the next one goes through. They know a lot about how we obtained our information, and this will ultimately help them to make the next one count.
Nice "head's up" to all terrorists to scan their vehicles for GPS devices.
Yes. I think the public also has a right to know precisely where such devices are likely to be positioned in a vehicle, and which frequencies to scan to check for their presence. The public also has a right to know how to jam the devices and how to force them to report inaccurate positions.
This explains Chertoff's saying he's never been so worried.
"I suppose you think that justifies profiling."
I do.
When will be the senate hearings saying their rights are being violated?
I do too. Should have started right after 9/11.
No student visas from Middle Eastern countries. Period.
If the ACLU doesn't like that, then no student visas at all for 1 year.
