So instead of cell phones, they use garage door openers which aren't being tracked, or keyless entry transmitters? The type used to open your car door? Or how about personal radios? You know. The kind they sell for around $30?
A transmitter is a transmitter and any terrorist that is hell bent on detonation an explosive will find a way.
You can make the argument all you want, but taking away some our freedoms just means terrorism is working.
I prefer them cold and in the ground. Or tiny pieces will do too.
they're using pre-paid phones because: 1) they've used them successfully in Iraq for quite some time...they know that formula. 2) they can be in california and detonate a bomb in NY.
think about it. has anyone been caught with 1000 garage door openers in their car? SEVERAL have been caught with hundreds of pre-paid cell phones.

No the cell phone is being used as the receiver not as the transmitter. It can be used from any distance and from anywhere in the world. A garage door opener is good only up to maybe a hundred feet for example.
I agree but only note that with a cell phone you can detonate from a 1000 miles away by dialing a number. Can't do that with a low power transmiter. What I would suggest is to have th phone companies ring all the prepay cell phones one a day at some random time. One ring, please one ring only, LOL. It would be cool to blow them up with there own phones.
Range is too limited. These guys want to be more than a mile a way when it goes boom.
