Now that we're on the road to banning all carry-ons, why can't the terrorists do a remote to cargo in the belly of the plane?

Detonate with their cell phone? Sounds plausible to me.

They probably could if they work on it. However, at least if liquids are banned from being brought on planes, that will solve one attack possibility. You can't mix together a lethal explosion cocktail of liquids in the cargo of a plane. Only if they are carried on board and mixed in the bathroom on the sly.
